I think @nomufflers leveled his F350 the way Wes described. I looked into it and decided to go the 4wd conversion route as there's no fabricarion and little modification required in order to bolt the axle to the frame.
Correct. Removing the EGR valve won't trip a CEL on the early years but that's not what I was talking about at all.
Disconnecting the EGR valve will affect the way the fan behaves at different duty cycles though I don't know whether or not that's true on the 03-04 models.
I'm thinking it...
The fan won't work as intended with the EGR valve unplugged. This has been thoroughly researched and documented on other forums.
When I deleted mine, I threw the block off plate away and left the valve and plug intact. You could also leave the valve plugged in and zip tie it away and install...
You'd be better off finding a dually 10.25 with what you're gonna be paying for the arrowcraft's.
I've got a set of 2wd dually hubs if you're interested.
Couldn't agree more. I'll take breaks over horsepower anyday. My n/a 4.10 geared is plenty strong for me. Hydroboost is way higher on my bucket list than a turbo.
Still a long way from done but finally bolted the axle on.
Gonna need 4" maybe 5"? blocks to get rid of the bro lean.
Sky sent me the wrong pitman arm so I threw the one off the parts truck to get it out of my driveway. I'm also not very happy with the shackle angle :frustrate hope SD springs...
Hope I'm still married by the end of my swap let alone a few more LOL
@Dieselcrawler is your go to man when it comes to 4wd conversions. His posts helped me make it far less painful ;Sweet
Little progress on the axle swap a few hours a day as the crappy weather allows
Wish I had a fire wrench...Ford loves to fasten stuff with hard to get to rivets
To those that have done it in the past, what did you use for shock mounts and brake lines?
Will blinsteins 5100 work with a 2" RSK?
Looking at my donor truck I'm not sure the shock mounts will bolt to the 2wd frame :dunno
Also, where can I find longer brake lines?
Much thanks.
1987 F350 CC...
About the pyros...I've tapped the manifolds of every diesel I've owned without any cracks leaks or failed turbos.
Brand new drill bit and brand new tap evrry time taking it reeaaaaaaaaally slow making sure there's no "chips" but rather long "curls". Clean up with a magnet when done and voila...
Most people knocking on PSDs, especially 6.0s have never even driven one, let alone own one. Every year and model will have their shortcomings. It's about finding what's best for YOU.
Sure IDIs are "easy" and "cheap" to fix but what about the 30 year old truck wrapped around it? How many of us...
