I ended up contacting the manufacturer and verifying that the o-ring sizes were going to work. Reassembled the oil and cooling systems, torqued a bunch of bolts and installed the IP. That's when I noticed the IP didn't have the adapter to thread in the hard line or the barb for the return line...
Seems like I ordered The wrong part. The oil cooler gasket set I received appears to fit early power strokes. The O-rings seem to fit, but the engine block gaskets are entirely different. Should I replace the O-rings that I installed? The kit I bought was Fel-pro es72519. The dorman kit that...
The good news is the harmonic balancer eventually came out. Not before it broke a puller kit, but that is beside the point.
The bad news is that the leak I suspected to be the front main seal appears to be coming from the oil pan, not the front main seal. Whie I'm in there, i'm going to go...
Good thing it's all said and done now.
I got to looking at my pump after work today, and realized that I didn't remove the solenoid and bracket before sending it out... Just cost myself $100. *Sigh*
The majority of the rock auto stuff showed up today. Forgot a few items, and I will end up going elsewhere to buy a thermostat housing, radiator hoses, as well as fuel hose for the pickup modification.
I was thankful that the PO replaced the OEM drain plugs with bolts, but is there ANY way to...
Unboxed an injection pump, 8 stock injectors, and a return line kit this evening. Hopefully I can free up some time to tackle the oil leak issues while the coolant is out and can install the new items ASAP.
I suppose while I'm at it, I should probably order my Motorcraft GP's and some new...
I think I meant fleet charge. This is where I read about the silicates causing issues with conventional coolant.

In any event, an extended life or pre charge coolant appears to be a cost effective solution.

I went ahead and ordered a bunch of stuff from Rock Auto. I've read that I can't combine conventional green automotive coolant and the SCA's without undesirable consequences. So, I'm probably going to buy the fleet guard coolant and replace what I have in there, even though it was just replaced...
I'm probably just getting mixed up.
I read a couple of posts about them on this board and another here http://www.thedieselstop.com/forums/f31/cdr-how-much-oil-cons-can-cause-106349/#/topics/106349.
I'll do some more reading tomorrow.

Today I removed and inspected my CDR valve and noticed that the diaphragm is absent. If this is the trigger for my oil leaks, is the damage already done to the leaking seals?? I'm not sure if the excess pressure was enough to make decent seals leak more than they should.

That is good!
He sounded quite backed up with orders the last time we spoke; perhaps I should be ordering that $600 list of brake components while I wait.

I've also just read that Justin was banned from the forum? I hope I didn't make a mistake sending him my pump / Injectors.

Yes, the previous owner had changed the coolant with the conventional green. I didn't imagine he added any SCA. I think I'll just use the additive for now, and look into a coolant filter down the road.
Yesterday I started to remove my rear drums and couldn't believe how strong corrosion can...
Valve cover gaskets came in today. Will be using brake cleaner for the mating surfaces.
Also took a coupe tests of the current coolant.

Well, that certainly makes sense! I wouldn't work on anything either.
Yeah, a couple others have mentioned that was likely a contributing factor to the injector being rusty.
I'll probably pull the radiator to do the front main seal since I'll have the coolant drained for the oil cooler while...
I'm in Mount Vernon Ohio. If you'd like to come help, I'd be more than happy to have it; but that's a bit of an adventure at 2 hours. I'll PM you.
Those compression numbers were on a warm-ish engine. Not hot because I waited a while to start the testing.
On the IP; it started cold...
Do you have any knowledge on the front main seal? I'm hesitant to buy the seal when the tool to install it is $100 and then the harmonic balancer is anothe $70 assuming I need to replace it.

So that's a valve cover gasket then? I'll have to order a couple in. The filter was just installed, so I don't think it's coming from there. Is filthy even above that, which lead me to believe the oil cooler is at least one of the offenders here.
