So what did you do with your truck today?

    You're an optimist. I have a deep socket, 6" extension, and a 3' breaker bar. :)

no fuel where to start looking?

In my earlier post I said "The ICP needs to be connected." I meant the IPR. I have edited it and corrected it. ICP sensor and CPS are the same thing.

no fuel where to start looking?

Black stuff in the fuel filter could be residue from the o-rings on and in the fuel injectors. While this is indicative that the fuel injector o-rings may need replacing, it is usually not a show stopper. i.e. the engine will start running like crap, but still run. The IPR needs to be...

So What Did You Do With Your PSD Today?

Trailered my '97 shortbed from my brother's farm near Busby AB to Ashern Manitoba, with Rusty. The weights on the axles were: Front 1840 kg 4057 lbs Rear 1710 kg 3770 lbs Trailer 4350 kg 9590 lbs I towed it using my WMO cocktail. :) Did I mention, I did it without...

So what did you do with your truck today?

Me too. That's why I moved from Calgary AB to a little acreage just outside Ashern MB.

Redneck 6.9 Rebuild (don't try this at home)

Made it to Ashern MB (over 1300 km) with no problems. Averaged about 16L/100 km, about 14.7 US mpg with 4 engine blocks in the bed, and 4 mattress on top. Using my WMO fuel cocktail FTW! I love this truck. Pic of the convoy in Yorkton SK.

Redneck 6.9 Rebuild (don't try this at home)

Pulled the '86 out from the boneyard at my brother's place after being parked for two years. After driving it about 3.5 hours, we hit a rest stop. We thought we smelled campfire, or grass burning...but it was just around the truck. Then we realized it was coming from the truck. My son said...

Redneck 6.9 Rebuild (don't try this at home)

CADHOWDY, yes, the '86 is still running strong, but the body needs some love. It has developed a leak from the windshield into the cab, the power windows don't work, lots of body rust... It's not a pretty California truck. Nothing new to report. I have it stored at my brother's farm, as I have...

Sputtering/loss of power at hard acceleration

Sounds like fuel starvation. It might be something partially plugging the fuel line. You might try rigging up a temporary jug of fuel to the inlet side of the lift pump to eliminate anything back of the lift pump. It won't take you very far because the return line fuel will go back to...

    Happy Father’s Day

Happy Father's Day! I spent it watching my 13 year old grand daughter play baseball. In my opinion, that is the perfect age for baseball. She managed to hit a double with the bases loaded! Proud grampa, that's for sure. :)

So What Did You Do With Your PSD Today?

I wasn't sufficiently impressed with the fast spool turbo, so I switched back to the original...well, with the WW2. Today I checked the Exhaust Back Pressure Sensor tube for restriction...yup plugged. I cleaned it out, so now I'll see if there's a difference. I'm doing things backwards, I...

So What Did You Do With Your PSD Today?

Swapped the turbo. I removed the Banks fast spool turbo, and put original turbo back on. This time with a Wicked Wheel 2 impeller. The truck was rolling coal too much for my liking. Maybe this will help. I'd really like to have a wall to wall talk with the guy, or committee that designed...

So What Did You Do With Your PSD Today?

Showed Fred, the PSD, some love, and put on some newer tires and painted Alcoa rims. The rims were a set of nasty corroded ones I had accumulated. After taking the crap tires off, I hit them with the wire wheel and painted them up. I wanted to have something closer to the colour of the truck...

    Head tear down

Hmm, a rebuilt doesn't necessarily mean a good rebuilt. The good news is the internals look really clean, and it has the upgraded valve rockers from the 7.3. Tear it down, inspect and measure. It might just need head bolts and gaskets. If I was doing it, I would use ARP head studs...

    Fred has a new home

Took off the ice tires and put on the crappy summer tires, but they have shiny aluminum rims. :D

So What Did You Do With Your PSD Today?

Drove over 2700 km to Ashern Manitoba and back. On WMO FTW! Fred was a smokey mess when we got back, but a can of Seafoam in the crankcase, and another in the rear tank cleared that up. :) I mixed the WMO down to a 50% mix with diesel, and that works much better. Ok, it wasn't today. It was...

So What Did You Do With Your PSD Today?

I got a glow plug out. It took 3 days, but I got it out. I thoroughly bathed it with PB Blaster, and with the help of this little gizmo, it came out of the 1996 7.3 Powerstroke.
