I want to stick one of these into a '54-'56 Ford wagon, with a Tremec 5-speed behind. There are adapters to use Ford or GM transmissions courtesy of the 4X4 swap crowd, and with a Myna or Dieselmeken 6 mm pump they're substantially more powerful without too many modifications.

It'll cost at least $3,000 to do what you're trying to do, and there isn't much advantage for your purposes. I'd put a 4R100 wide-ratio gearset in the C6, but without any OD that truck ought to be right in the sweet spot about 65 MPH.

It's the idiotic PSD obsession responsible for that, I'll never understand it but it is what it is. My BIL has a mid-'90s CCSWB F-250 4X4 that I think he's got over $50K in. It isn't very pretty, and it isn't reliable, but I think he'd give up his wife and kids before that stupid truck!

I think pickings are slim here in Texas because so many of our trucks head south - you'll see 3-vehicle tow-bared trains headed south on certain freeways much of the year!

I hope it's allowed to mention here, but R&D modifies these to use a Diamond Eye PSD exhaust: http://www.idiperformance.com/store/p36/93%2F94_Factory_Turbo_IDIT_3%22_Downpipe_upgrade.html

Don't scrap it! Contact Tommie Vaughn Ford: http://www.tommievaughnford.com/parts/index.htm they should be able to help if it's possible. I really hope you can get one, an '89 recently caught my eye and as much as I enjoy shifting for myself I'm not such a fan of doing it in Houston traffic...
