Dually bed fitment ???
Just the wheel openings are different. My truck has a 84 front end, and a bed off of a 87-97. Nobody else ever notices the difference, but it bugs the hell out of me.- bike-maker

Are crew cab door panels interchangable?
1/4" x 1" aluminum flat stock. Bent them in my bench vise with a BFRH (R=rubber). Then added a few "speed holes" with a Unibit. Then made the backing plates out of some .080" aluminum sheet - cut them out with a jig saw and finished them off with a sander (they're 2" wide, so 2" flat stock would...- bike-maker

Stupid Clutch Pedal Assembly
??? It was either cut the cable, or disassemble the whole gauge cluster to get the speedo cable off of the back of the speedo. Are you saying you would want to use a speedo cable out of a JY truck? They're pretty cheap at the parts store.- bike-maker

I know I'm digging up an old one here, but I've searched all over for the rear door panels off of a newer crew cab to no avail; so instead of going that route, I just made some new door handles for the existing door panels. Stupid Clutch Pedal Assembly
I just pulled the whole pedal assembly out of a bricknose at the junkyard the other day. Only took about 1/2 hour. Got the steering column loose from the pedal bracket (and it was a non-tilt column with the bench seat still installed), and I was able to roll the pedal assembly counter clockwise...- bike-maker

DT 360 swap - the planning stages
The only reason I would go auto would be in the name of simplicity and cost. Going to a newer Allison kinda kills that idea. Nearest I can tell, the only bell housing size that came behind any of the DT motors is SAE2. SAE3 isn't nearly as common, and a lot of people assume they have an SAE3...- bike-maker

All the DT360s I have seen had an Allison MT545 bolted to them. The 545 has 3 speeds, no torque converter lockup, and runs really loose; they are really mushy feeling. Yep, adapter to ZF, or SAE2 tranny. Still not 100% sure on which way I would go; I've even thought of using an Allison 600 series auto in it (this would be the easiest and cheapest way to go). Where did you source the bronze bushings? You have to make them? I finally got around to measuring the pushrod for the master cylinder, see pic below. what in the world is wrong with this axle?
Welcome to the TTB. I have replaced every wear item in my TTB front suspension including polyurethane leaf spring and pivot bushings. It does the same thing. Just not as bad as when it was worn out.- bike-maker

I rebuilt my entire Dana 50 front end. This was the second time I have gone through one. After doing the first one in about 3 days, the second one I finished in 1 day. 1 really looong day. DT360's have wet sleeves. So, the engine kit includes new replaceable sleeves that are already honed to size. If the crank doesn't need turned, and the valves/seats are still in good shape, a rebuild kit is all that is needed.- bike-maker

Question Asked Of Me.....
If you were to put them in backwards, there wouldn't be enough side clearance on the rods once they were assembled on the crank; they might even cause a bind when you went to turn the crank.- bike-maker

I'm currently running the cast iron MC that has been slotted to fit on a bricknose vacuum booster, so it will fit, and afterwards I will verify which bolt pattern it really is. I'm going to swipe the whole power steering pump; mine is starting to make death noises.- bike-maker

The way I look at it, I could rebuild the DT360 sitting in my garage and get it shoehorned into my truck for about the same amount of money I would have to throw into the IDI to get it making the amount of power I want; but the 360 would have the same amount of power, if not more than the IDI...- bike-maker

It should be a pretty bolt in affair. Major components are the engine/trans, and core support. Possibly fuel tanks? If the 89 is a light duty version, would it just be a matter of swapping in the Sterling rear off of the 90? Having two whole running trucks to start with makes it pretty simple...- bike-maker

When I used to crew on a drag boat, we had a big Kodiak toter home, and a 43' gooseneck behind that. The truck was registered as a motorhome, and had the "not for hire" stickers on the doors, but was otherwise unmarked. Total weight was just barely under 26k.
