So what did you do with your truck today?

Pic no worky. I've been contemplating one of those shelfs for a long time, just haven't ever sat in a truck with one installed to make sure I can see under it (I'm a tall guy). Definitely not my first post on this forum, but first post in this thread: Spent a couple hours hacking my old...

Need a motor, bought a truck, now what?

Looks worth saving to me.... Slantnose crew cab = hard to find Slantnose dually fenders = really hard to find without cracks and/or missing chunks - although I do see some cracks in the pic. Almost 30 year old truck with no rust issues in the NE seems to be a big selling point. Somebody...

    wiring headache

Just spent about an hour trying to dig up my $#&! Haynes manual. It's just about useless.....unless I need a wiring diagram for something. FWIW, I did this conversion myself. I used a 3 way momentary switch, so you hold it in the up position to light the glow plugs, then push it into the down...

Part Numbers for 6.9L tachometer sensor

Take a few minutes and put rtv on the top of the sensor, where the 2 wires come out. I made a Hershey kiss from the top of the sensor up about 1" up the wires. If that doesn't work, pull the sensor out and check to see if there's any metal carnage stuck to the bottom of it. I've fixed 2 of...

Manual Valve Install with Fuel Tank Switch

Another nomination for the tech section. Been running these exact same valves for about 3 years now and the setup works great. Another point to add; having separate valves for the supply and return allows you to transfer fuel between tanks (even with the engine off if you have e-fuel). Comes...

    Windstar electric fan placement

Just going off of the mechanical gauge. Tested it 3 separate times and the switch worked at the same temps all 3 times.

    Windstar electric fan placement

On to version 2.0 Haven't really needed to even turn the fans on yet.....really don't need any kind of fan unless I'm towing something - and I've been unloaded since the install. Only time I had to turn them on was over at the dunes - started the truck to let it warm up for a while, got to...

No more whistle with full exhaust

Same here. Ran with just the downpipe - lots of whistle. Added exhaust - way less. Like said it's still there, just far enough behind you that you can't really hear it. Then I threw the ats air filter housing away, and ran a cold air intake using abs pipe and an AFE filter. With the CAI, the...

    Slant Nose Intercoller Install

Al, the pic with the exhaust clamp was a fail on my part. I was trying to show the tool I made for bead rolling the ends of the tubes. Here's what it looks like: My EGT probe is only about 1" away from the pop can, and I never let the EGT's get over 1100, so we'll see what...

    Slant Nose Intercoller Install

OK, took me a couple months, but I finally got the intercooler functional. So to recap, I spent $100 at the junk yard on the PSD intercooler, then ordered just under $150 worth of mandrel bends (4), silicone couplers, and T-bolt clamps from Summit. So I have about $250 in the whole mess...

C&C rear axle fit on a standard truck?

Here's the transfer case mounted parking brake. They don't make one for our transfer cases, but I think I could buy just the caliper and make something work. Should be a little easier on my truck since I have a fixed yoke on the back of the transfer case...

C&C rear axle fit on a standard truck?

Leaning towards MDT as well. There's no way I could stay legal using the truck I have now. With my current trailer - 1700 pounds pin weight - I can't be more than half full of fuel before I'm over the 9300 lb. GVW on the truck.

C&C rear axle fit on a standard truck?

I'm currently towing a 31 ft. Fifth wheel that weighs about 10k pounds. It will be paid off in a year and a half, and at that point, were thinking of upgrading to a toy hauler fifth wheel: and those things are big and heavy. A lot of the new ones are rated at 18k GVW (!). Not that I'd go that...

C&C rear axle fit on a standard truck?

I know the obvious answer is no.. But can a cab and chassis rear axle be made to fit a standard pickup frame? Possibly by running the c&c 2.5" leafs, and maybe relocating spring perches on the axle? I'll spare the long explanation of why I ask for now: let's just say I'm looking into upping...

    Hypermax?

I agree... But I'm gonna get my intercooler setup and see how that runs first. Once that isn't enough, I'll probably pull the engine, do head studs, work the turbo over, and upgrade the cam at the same time.

Idid not turning off right away

It's running through a keyed ignition switch; but it's the same principle as a toggle. Just 3 poles on the back of the switch; constant power, key on power, and 1 for the starter (don't use this one, starter is on a separate momentary switch).

Idid not turning off right away

Mine does this. I canned the stock ignition switch and mounted a generic aftermarket one. Now when you turn the key off, all of the accessories turn off immediately, but the IP gets it's power cut off according to where the heaters blower motor is set; The faster the blower motor is spinning...

intake hat problems with running an intercooler

I'm in the middle of building the tubes for an IC setup myself. I'm using a non Wastegated ATS turbo, but it has the same issue, even worse. I'm building my own hat. One option I thought of, can the intake side of the turbo be unbolted and rotated upwards?

    Hypermax?

I'm starting to think Wastegated might be better for towing. Here's my reasoning: I have a non Wastegated ATS turbo and tow a big 5er. If you hit the bottom of the hill at 3000 rpm, the truck will pull right up it. But most of the hills around here seem to have a 35mph corner(s). My truck...

    Pulling Engine help!!

Like said, easiest to remove engine/tranny as 1 piece if the core support is out of the way. Where about's in Oregon are ya?

    Windshield reseal?

What I used on mine: Sikaflex 255 (252 would work also). I used to work at a coach conversion company ($$$$$ motor homes), and Prevost uses this stuff to glue on all of the windows (which are a couple hundred pounds each) and all of the stainless panels on the sides of their coaches. Some...

    Windshield reseal?

Best windshield remover? I vote for a hammer. Glass chunks blowing out of your defrost vents might be an issue though..... A 3" metal putty knife is a necessity in my tool box for all kinds of things: it's what I use to remove the trim; of course I don't care about my paint. I used a...

    Intermittent power loss

I used valves from McMaster-Carr also. Not sure if they're the same as you ordered, but sounds like it. I got the ones with 3/8" NPT threads, ran brass 90's off of them. Haven't given me a lick of trouble in over two years.
