    A couple of quick questions.....

Yep. Ball joint. Not sure why they use that instead of one with a nut on top, but even our old ford ranger had that style upper ball joint. Looks just like my truck too, except you have a lot more rusty stuff.

Interesting on the I beams. My 92 2wd does have ball joints. Mine is a late 92 with the serpentine belt system though...

    What in the World?

Pull the valve cover. See what broke. Not sure what kind of smoke would have caused this damage, but the missing and white smoke is very much like symptoms I had when I had water in my fuel.

Hate it when a plan fails.

Fastest I could get the energy suspension ones was middle of next week. No overnight option. Think they were out of stock. I ordered the prothane bushings which will be here Saturday.

Hate it when a plan fails.

I pulled the leaf springs out yesterday and started ambushing swap. Tried every way I could and finally just went a bought a press. Needed one anyway. Turns out, there are two different kinds so shackle bushings and, of course, when I ordered my energy suspension bushing set I got the wrong...

    No Start With Key

The glow plugs clicking a lot is actually normal. It cools them off slower allowing better emissions at startup. Usually only does this when the engine is cold. Perhaps your transmission range sensor is a little off if you have an auto and it need to be set in park better. or the clutch switch?

    Replacing rear tank. Advice requested

I used the factory sending unit. Soldered one of the copper extensions on the pickup line where the shower head goes. Cut 1 inch off the copper and put the shower head back and it sits flat on the bottom of the tank directly in the little sump. For the gauge, I took the wire off the sending...

Hate it when a plan fails.

Think I am getting it worked out. There is clearance now around the hitch brackets after a little notching on the upper bag mount. Biggest problem is the distance between the upper and lower mounts. The hitch has a big bolt right where the bag would rub unless I locate the upper mount lower...

    Replacing rear tank. Advice requested

Just installed an f26e today. I still need to solder the pickup tube extension on. Went in pretty easy considering I had the bed off.

    ground wire locations?

On that same terminal from the battery, are there several other wires? Those are the fuse links and other wires that go to power the chassis.

    ground wire locations?

What about a wire from the positive battery terminal passenger side, to the fender mounted solenoid right next to it?

    ground wire locations?

Can you post a picture of what you have in the battery area? Particularly in the fender mounted solenoid area. You should have two large grounds going to either side of the engine block directly below the harmonic balancer. One has a smaller wire that goes off to the frame(passenger side)...

Something has to give. That top crossbar of the gooseneck hitch is in the location of the top bracket for the bags. I might need to get creative here! Welder may be involved too.

Hate it when a plan fails.

I have the bed off doing some things. New leaf spring bushings, f26e rear fuel tank, fixing the gauge float in the front tank. Also, tried to throw on the rear air springs I picked at the salvage yard and the b&W turnover ball I got from Idioit. Well shoot, Those things apparently occupy the...

DIY: Harbor Freight $30 Compression Tester Easily Modded for Success!

After reading this, I decided to give the HF tester a shot. Turns out, some things have been redesigned. The fitting no longer has a schrader valve in it. It is still too long, and needs to be shortened, but is a straight through design now. I have tested two cylinders so far and the...

It's been fun while it lasted...

Yes, it will make the speedo work, because you will need to swap the speedometer from a 92-96 all the way in because the psom is in the speedometer gauge itself. Take your speedo out of the cluster and put in the speedo only from the newer cluster, wire it up right, and you will be good to go.

It's been fun while it lasted...

Yep, in 91 they called it an abs sensor, in 92 they called it the differential speed sensor. Exact same part.
