    Ether cause this damage?

I bought an idiT engine last week that was using oil pretty bad with only 130k on the clock. I have it stripped down now, (and have good heads btw,my original reason for purchase) and I found this. Could crack in a can cause the rings to be blown out like this? Only this one cylinder.(5)...

    WHAT COULD THIS MEAN????

Nope. Some jack leg had jimmied one into my truck when I bought it. It had no vrv on the IP, and went straight into 3rd as soon as you started moving. It worked long enough to get home and get yanked out. I jam gears now with a zf.

    Rear axle tag question?

My drw has 4.10 s. At 70 mph, I am at 2600 in OD. Same size tires. Seems you might have 3.55s if you are 350 rpm less.

    WHAT COULD THIS MEAN????

Probably bad connections on the sending unit. Not really a big problem, unless you have an automatic transmission. It needs the tach signal to shift properly.

Factory 94 model ATS turbo kit. $700 shipped

Pictures as promised. The story goes like this. This was a service truck that had a utility bed with a 6000 pound crane. It started using oil right after an IP change and turbo rebuild. Supposedly, 2000 miles since that work was done. They were using crack in a can to start it before IP...

Factory 94 model ATS turbo kit. $700 shipped

The engine ran, but had apparently lost its oil rings or something causing it to burn lots of oil. I heard the engine run and run quite well actually. Once I get the engine home and opened up, I can verify the rods are indeed good and let you know. We can talk price then.

Factory 94 model ATS turbo kit. $700 shipped

Just picked up a complete 94 model turbo factory turbo engine. This engine has a complete factory turbo kit including the air box, all the piping, valve covers, etc. it also appears to have a nearly new turbo. It has a garret rebuild tag on it. The engine is dirty, greasy and grimy, and the...

    Decided to rebuild the IDI

Only way to truly know is have a GOOD machine shop give it the once over. I have chosen a place here in little rock called hill crest camshaft. They are known for working n large industrial diesels. 7.3 is a small engine to them. When speaking with them, they really know their stuff. Find...

    Decided to rebuild the IDI

After they came out with the factory turbo engine, all the new head gaskets you can buy are now the right spec. They have all been updated to meet that engine. Buy any head gasket set for a 7.3 and you are good. This has my vote as the victor reinz gaskets were what international used...

Fuel heater leaking out the electrical connection

In all honesty, don't hate to do it. It is pointless really. The fuel isn't really in there long enough to warm it anyway. Take that thing apart, tap it with a 1/2 inch npt tap, plug it off and don't look back.

    3G Upgrade Question

From what I can tell, there is a light green/red wire that needs to be hooked into the internal regulator of the alternator. It should be on the 3 wire harness on you 3G and the same color wire should come from the truck harness that went to your old regulator.

coolant filter seems like a pita.

Yes. So it won't drain the system when you change the filter. I will post some pics tomorrow when it gets light out again.

coolant filter seems like a pita.

Passenger side frame rail, just behind the front cab mount. Outside the rail for me. I also mounted mine horizontally oriented so it wouldn't hang below the frame rail.

coolant filter seems like a pita.

Exactly how I did mine, with one difference. I returned my filter into the bottom of the radiator. The auto trans trucks have the heater hose tee'd into a restricted fitting in the bottom tank. My coolant filter is tee'd into the heater line coming out of the head, then returns into the...

    Pictures inside the precup chamber

Thanks for the info there Gary. I figured there was a spec on the depth of that. Now that we know that spec, how is it adjusted? Does the head have to be machined if they are out of spec?
