96 cummins slightly less power on veg.
yep I had the same thing when I ran veggie in my cummins. Also I noted a slight decrease in fuel mileage but for the cost it didn't matter. I think I lost something like 2-3 mpg on average if memory serves. it's been a while...- argve

yep Darrin there are 3000 and 4000 gov spring kits avail for the p pump. I had a 3k and on some days you will get 3k max and others you will get 3500 out of her, don't know why the difference from day to day but that is the beauty of mechanical limits - I think it had to do with temps but that...- argve

yep sometimes the next owner doesn't treat the equipment with the same loving care. You did the right thing by moving on. You can find another one just like it in much better shape if you want to regain the look of that style of truck in better shape and then restore it. No it's not the same...- argve

5 spd is howling
rebuilding one of these is EASY. Only special tool you need really is a snap ring plier but the type that does the flat ones not the one with the ring holes - the snap rings are the ones that look like piston rings. other than that it's a pretty straight forward deal.- argve

A few questions about 1st generation 12 valve
Injection pumps are interchangeable the calibration settings on your current pump can be changed to gain the usable power with the intercooler and larger exhaust. The turbo you have on the engine currently is plenty enough but you may want to increase the turbine section size to help it breath...- argve

Scott I had forgotten about the 911 stuff. If there was water in the fuel or something else that stuff will allow you to burn it off. I got bad fuel years ago from the truckstop in Fort Wayne - tons of water and would have the problems you are experiencing but I knew it was water because the...- argve

I concur with Heath... I suspect a bad head (warped) I know that on the 6bt when the exhaust manifold tweeks the head up it will cause gasket failure but then the head is warped. But it's the front hole that leaks right by the tstat housing not the 2nd hole like yours. I passed it off on mine as...- argve

Test Glow Plugs
it's good. Slap it back in and enjoy. On a side note.... The better the meter the better the reading you will get. As stated Fluke is the industry standard. Now as far as Glow plugs go - a resistance that lower than say 20 ohms is good. I have never seen a bad glow plug read anything lower...- argve
