Hmmm. I think my memory might be failing me then, when I had to replace my radiator I never had to pull the fan off. I thought I pulled the shroud straight out after removing the hoses, but maybe I just hung the shroud on the fan and then pulled the radiator out? I wish I took more pictures, I...- Golden Helmet

I'm not 100% sure about vans or bullnose / bricknose trucks, but I just checked on my OBS and the only thing in the way is the upper radiator hose. 4 bolts and it comes right out.- Golden Helmet

I can't answer all your questions, but this one I got. If you're NA, these engines absolutely fall on their faces the moment they see a hill. Why does my truck emit an odor when making a turn
When my fuel heater was leaking I noticed the same thing happening, I would only smell diesel when making a turn. stuck with blinking OD light
One of the things you want to check is your throttle position sensor. It's right on top of the injection pump and easy to get to, and the E4OD freaks out when that sensor isn't working. Here's a write-up on how to do that.- Golden Helmet

4X4 Manual hubs or automatic?
Automatics are fine if you like the convenience and you know ahead of time how to use them right. You need to be moving forward for the hubs to engage, so if you're already stuck and you put it in 4WD, your front hubs won't engage and you go nowhere. 3 temp sensors on stock '94 7.3 turbo
There's a plug on the rear of the driver side head that you can remove and put a temp sender in, then both your factory gauge and overtemp switch are left intact. That's how mine is set up.- Golden Helmet

Favorite mechanical lift pump brand?
I'm not in the hot rodders group, but if you had some way of getting good and reliable mechanical fuel pumps I'd be all over it. I'm still running my original lift pump at 322k miles, who knows how much life this thing has left in it. I want to replace it, but I've lost the new part lottery so...- Golden Helmet

Injector life?
Injectors are usually "good" for 100-120k miles, but sometimes they can be usable for much longer than that. When my IP and injectors were replaced at 300k, we found that several of the injectors still had the grey paint on them. Apparently the Ford dealership the PO took the truck to wasn't big...- Golden Helmet
