    That sinking brake pedal.

That's what I did, even good vacuum brakes are going to be spongey. Hydro boost fixes that, and you'll have brakes that are actually GOOD :D

    That sinking brake pedal.

These might be relevant to you: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/678376-brake-pedal-slowly-goes-down-tsb.html#post5387282 and http://www.thedieselstop.com/forums/f31/power-brakes-last-52122/ Just something I came across while trying to solve my own soft brake pedal issue a while back.

    Hydroboost problem???

When I first put my hydroboost in it sounded worse than in your video and it did the kicking back thing too. In my case it was a DOA power steering pump though, so both the steering and the pedal were stiff. When I put the 300k mile pump back in everything worked like it should, no noise from...

Play in my water pump, FUBAR? Video included

One last rookie question for you guys. On the four bolts that need thread sealant, is the white tape stuff alright to use or do I need to use something else? The fan and shroud are currently off the truck but everything else is still in place. I learned today that you can't get the shroud out...

gauging interest for a SF Bay Area GTG.

I'll be there with sausage and jerky. I can bring other stuff to BBQ too if people want (chicken, steaks, frog legs, etc).

The second pump got here early! It was scheduled for delivery Monday, but it was on my porch waiting for me when I got home today. Much better condition than the first one, only a little bit of rust on the sealing surface, no big deal at all. As always, pics or it didn't happen: All the...

It's all yours if you want it, i'll bring it with me when I bring you my truck for its surgery. Do you want the old wobbly one that's coming off too?

    7.3 idi coolant temp sensor

There's a square plug on the back of the driver side head, above the exhaust manifold. It's not used for anything and it's a great spot to put the sender, that way you leave the factory gauge alone and functional. Here's a pic for you, you can see the wire for my gauge going to that spot:

Play in my water pump, FUBAR? Video included

I sent the seller a message via ebay yesterday. Got a response back today from Frank, they're sending me out another pump and he told me to throw the rusty one away. I am now a very happy man, i'm glad there are still a few companies left who take care of their customers. :)

Play in my water pump, FUBAR? Video included

Nope. It's been on the to-do list for a long time, but it's not really a high-priority item so you know how that goes.

Play in my water pump, FUBAR? Video included

The seller showed a picture of a good clean pump and that's what I thought I was buying. A little surface rust is no sweat and I was even expecting some (pictures are never perfect, and sure, it's been on a shelf, I know), but to be in THAT condition is completely unacceptable and NOT what was...

The U-Haul pump I got is a rusty POS. EDIT: I originally said the ebay listing only showed the front of the pump, it actually did show pictures of both sides. The pump I got is completely different from the one that was on display, this is the listing. Here's what I actually got: I...

Awesome, this might not be so bad afterall. Rent the pneumatic fan removal tool, drive to a local shop with a 6 pack and borrow their air, pop the fan off, drive home, water pump R&R, drive back to the shop with another 6 pack, done deal.

I'm reading the tech section now. It does actually look easier than I thought, looking at it in the truck I had the completely wrong idea about how the pump attaches to the engine. Much easier to get to it than I thought it would be. How hard is removing the water pump pulley? The last time I...

Play in my water pump, FUBAR? Video included

Ordered. It's been a while since I've seen any of the old U-Haul stock, I thought it all got sold a few years back. I've always heard the remans that U-Haul got were actually good. Thanks for the heads up! When the pump gets here, is there anything that I can check on it to verify it's...

O'Reilly's has a reman pump for $1 cheaper than the "new" pump. Not sure what the other guys have but it doesn't really matter, if it's Chinese it's already broken.

I'm already shopping. Ordered a new Motorcraft fan clutch already ($63 before shipping from RockAuto, cheapest I've ever seen them) and I'm windowshopping on the water pump. The reman market has boned me about 100 times so far, so I'm leaning towards Go Big or Go Home. I'm open to suggestions...

I was playing with my truck today trying to fit a shorter belt for my alternator (no luck). While it was apart I started checking my pulleys for any play. I got to the fan, and, well, I'm pretty sure it's not normal, but I'll let you guys tell me exactly how boned I am :P For what it's worth, I...

6.9 idk won't start randomly please help

Can you record a video of the truck trying to start? If your starter isn't spinning fast enough the truck will never start. That can be low batteries, bad cables, or the starter itself just getting old.

So what did you do with your truck today?

New alternator belt installed @ 314,450 miles. Gates belt, made in the USA, let's see if this one lasts more than 10K miles. Couldn't get my hands on the short belt today, so it's the regular length one. I'll be picking up a shorty next week hopefully, might swap it in then just to see how it does.

So what did you do with your truck today?

Look who went missing on the job today THIS is why I swapped to Hydroboost. The last time this happened I had to have the truck towed home (and I needed fresh pants), that gave me motivation to ditch the vacuum brakes. The belt that broke today was the fourth new belt I've given it in 20k...

    Dead batteries again

If you leave the truck a few days with the battery cables disconnected, do both batteries still have good voltage? Will they start the truck? For the mileage concern, my truck gets less than 5 miles daily (to work and back, with 3 minutes @ high idle to warm up in the morning) and I've never had...

    Need new batteries

My truck had a set of Motorcraft batteries in it when I bought it, when I replaced them they were 8 years old. I replaced them with a fresh set of Motorcrafts, 2 years later they're still doing good. Check your battery cables while you're in there, these IDI's get pissy when the cables get old...

The Official "Show Us Your Ride" pictures of member's trucks thread.

I actually got to use my truck for work today. 1 yard of baserock, ~2500 pounds the guy told me. The truck rode like a freakin' Mercedes with all that weight in the bed, the engine never noticed the load, and thanks to the hydroboost system the brakes didn't notice the extra weight either. The...

    HELP- radiator/coolant disappearing

Have you checked your hose clamps? I chased a mystery leak for months because of a crappy clamp, don't know why but some days it'd seal fine (when I was looking for the leak), some days it would be just a slow drip, and other days it'd be almost pouring out (always when I had no time to pop the...
