    Fuel return flow acceptable PSI?

The only problem with that is that my fuel pressure will go to high if I do that because I have an adjustable pressure relief installed in that line. Without it psi gets up to 8.5.

    Cheapish 8cyl p pump

Well if a guy really wanted more cubic inches in a V8 just skip the IH 9.0 and go with a 3208 Cat. 10.4 liters 636 cu in and already proven to fit an F350 many times. Another engine some hated but way better than 9.0.

    Fuel return flow acceptable PSI?

Wes thanks for getting back.... The fuel cap was off since I had to keep pouring “test fuel” back in. I have replaced the “showerheads”, replaced O-rings in quick couplers on tanks ( but not on tank selector) and all rubber hoses. It has nylon lines most of system. I measured the return flow...

    Fuel return flow acceptable PSI?

I have been fighting poor performance, random idle miss and poor fuel mileage on my 91 for a long while. Systematically testing and ruling out possible fuel issues. Recently upgraded electric fuel pumps and now have free flow of 1 gallon per 80 seconds. Or apx 45 gph. Maintaining a max of 6.5...

    Ignition lock actuator

What a perfect market for a nice little billet part as opposed to the craptastic potmetal replacements! I don’t like my ability to get out of places I have gotttn into sometimes to rely on a tiny piece of potmetal. Somehow always got it started and home but I would give $50 for a billet one...

    Valve cover gasket brand recommendation

Felpro “rubber” ones once every 10 years. If they have the plastic/ silicone bead ones now that would be just about permanent.

    Tools and Spare Parts

I actually change parts before they fail and then add them to the spares box. Also have a rule that if it is a custom part not commonly available then I have to buy 2 one for spare... I look at it like if it could fail, and it can be changed on the road safely then let’s have it. And when it...

    Cheapish 8cyl p pump

Actually NA cubic inches win so 444 cubic inches beats 360. Also part of the reason your Cummins was such a dog with a blown IC boot was that it won’t fuel without boost. So you were just getting the fuel allowed before turbo boost so no smoke..

    Cheapish 8cyl p pump

Hmm. 7.3 PSD no power down low... my 96 has 800 ft lbs at 1,100 rpm and 1,000 ft lbs at 1,700 rpm. That is at the crank breaking in the engine. I guess it thinks it is a Mack.....

    US Gear exhaust brake

Haven’t been a fan of US Gear control boxes since the electric fan clutch controls were such crap. Also adds complexity such as auto exercise and can’t be diagnosed other than replaced. I just want an armed / disarmed switch, my own micro (limit) switch on the throttle and an on off switch on...

    3 or 4 inch exhaust??

So on the 91 the Banks tailpipe got torn up by a blown tire so it was time for forced upgrade. Kept the Banks 3” downpipe but from there back used a Powerstroke 4” system with a straight through Dynomax muffler. Sounds really nice and deep, right on the border of a backrap on shifting and long...

    3 or 4 inch exhaust??

I’ve attempted a straight pipe on a turbo IDI and loved the sound under all conditions EXCEPT loaded on long downgrades. Such as 5-10 miles of logging roads. Dropping 3-4,000 feet. The backrap would get louder and Louder and LOUDER until you had to either stop or push on the clutch to start the...

    IDI Mileage

Bought a 90 F250 7.3 IDI E4OD Truck from original owner (who’s dad owned a diesel shop) around 94. It was a supervisor truck for years. Lost track of the miles but it finally got demoted to landfill crew truck around 2010. Was still going strong in 2013 when we left. Never touched the engine or...

    IDI Mileage

In my fleet days we used to buy nice one owner trucks with cash to save on supervisor trucks. I bought a nice 86 F250 6.9 truck, came with records back to first oil change. At 200k a lifter roller went out. We tore it down for a rebuild, did not need new pistons. Got rings, bearings, valve job...

    IDI Mileage

So meantime I needed to replace my Dads old 454 flatbed gooseneck hauling cattle feeding truck. Probably could have afforded a Powerstroke but opted for the simplicity of the IDI. Bought a super clean 91 7.3 IDI with Banks Sidewinder and 120k miles from the original owner. Still have it with...

    IDI Mileage

Continuing on the 90... So I find the first machine shop didn’t know how to fit sleeves and even worse, had cut intake seats into the heads. The cutter actually cut into the water jacket and coolant could get past the seat and into the intake port. I found an old school machinist that located...

    IDI Mileage

Personally I have had 4 plus the ones in my fleets over the years. 83 F250 6.9 all stock from the original owner in 1990 with all records. Sold it in 94 because I got a great deal on a 90.... 83 had 300k miles nothing but pump, injectors, water pump. 90 F250 7.3 w Banks bought in 94 with 97k...

F250 sas what year of axles work?

Using 1999 to 2004 F250/F350 Dana 50 or 60 requires dealing with the slightly different spring center to center width and a pitman arm ream to fit the larger drag link. Or swap the 99 up steering box w pitman and deal with the hose mismatch. Brake hose fit up? Need a custom set up for the...

F250 sas what year of axles work?

The 88-97 F350 axles are a bolt in using the springs, panhard bar and frame bracket, draglink, pitman arm, and lower unbolt plate from an F350. The 94 (iirrc) up axles have slightly larger brake rotors and a better caliper mounting system. The upsides are serviceable wheel bearings and assembly...

    US Gear exhaust brake

Yep I have a couple of those probably older that we used to use for garbage compactors. Didn’t have any sockets for them. I do love industrial automation parts....have be good for a million cycles.

    US Gear exhaust brake

Found this on search.... I have a used US Gear exhaust brake I want to install on one of my trucks. I do not plan to use the USG electronics. The trick is the timer for the pull in coil. Need to cut off power to the pull in about 2-4 seconds after engaging. Trying to keep it simple. Any ideas?

    Intercooler

This is a common thing for the 94-97 Powerstroke trucks. The truck side (cooling package fit up) is the same just the piping is different. Some of the piping will even stay the same. If I had a Tig I would buy a CSX racing 7.3 PSD kit and modify the tubes The 7.3 PSD ATS intercooler is a nice...

Where is a good place to buy a Radiator?

He built it. Epic multi year transformation. The front view of that truck is the inspiration for my 91 in progress. Slowly.

    PSA on CDD Phone Line

Wes, don’t mess around with that! Just got my wife back on her feet from pneumonitis. I know it is tough when you have a growing business and customers but take it easy and get really well. You aren’t Superman just super IDI man lol. Take care! If I was in Texas I’d come help you with the shop
