Cleaning out some spare IDI parts

I've always wanted to swap the purple'ish fake woodgrain dash out from my blue interior bullnose to the "brown" like in your picture there from the "race truck". Are those two pieces around the steering wheel and radio area in relatively good shape? I'd buy those from you if they aren't more...

So what did you do with your truck today?

2 tons of gravel in the bed. Truck was squatting some the slight hill doesnt do it total justice. Truck didn't even know it was back there unless I was going uphill at less than 1500rpms in 5th then it was falling on its face but 4th and wot and back to normal. Got the firepit ready by the...

    Carrier/facet pump observations

It's just weird because I have used different 40222's on the same truck with different results. I've also forgot to turn the toggle switch on for the relay to the facet pump and drove the truck 22 miles with no "lift pump" at all so honestly short of priming the system and keeping the pump from...

    PSA on floor mats

I don't have a picture right now but I have time to post about this. I was gifted a set of those weather tech like floor mats that cover most of the floor in your vehicle and they seemed nice they fit real snug cover the whole foor area nice. They also stick your throttle at wot as you bang...

    Carrier/facet pump observations

I just think that not all of the pumps are created equally perhaps it is a quality control issue because I replaced the leaking pump that was in my truck with another 40222 and it will not fall below 2 and a 1/2 psi.

Several IDI's for sale - can deliver

That top bullnose is incredibly clean and I've always wanted one with a back seat. If I didnt already have what I have I'd love to have it. I hope someone from here or the idi community in general finds them and is interested.

    Trucking along.

Just depends which one we're talking about for me lol.. "Ernest" has gotten some work done over winter with a newer ZF5, new SMF flywheel and clutch and all that good stuff, new carrier bearing, U joints, and a new rear driveshaft yoke. Truck has always done me very well since I got it about 4...

    Diesel Ranger Alert!

https://cleveland.craigslist.org/cto/d/avon-1983-ford-ranger-diesel/6901202262.html Not mine but very reasonably priced. If I didn't just get my TDI I'd be making a phone call but if I spend any more money I'll need a new home to live in lol.. But someone needs to get this.

    4X4 Manual hubs or automatic?

The first time you ever have auto hubs (like our trucks take that are rotation engaging) fail and only have one side lock on, or partially engage and you hear awful grinding noises from the axles, or they won't disengage unless you put it in 2wd and go in reverse real fast and slam on the brakes...

    Intermittent floppy clutch pedal

Maybe a certain rpm creates a vibration that shakes the master cylinder just right to where the piston lets fluid by and it falls without pressure but it's such a slow leak it doesn't happen under other conditions? I don't know it's weird for sure.

    FS6 compressor rebuild help?

I didn't have a pressure switch to shut the compressor off at all, so I just used this plate that was my best piece of scrap metal and then realized it was used to move a pulley under a mower back and forth so I thought this might help the belt tension problem more than the wiring/ clutch part...

    FS6 compressor rebuild help?

The only problem then is mounting it. I had a pto lever I was using from a mower and I just made a metal plate to sit the compressor on and this was bolted inside to the fender. If you wanted to turn the compressor on (or leave it on if I had a pressure switch) just engage the pto lever and it...

    FS6 compressor rebuild help?

They make excellent onboard air pumps if you have a dual pulley power steering pump. Something I've been working on with my old nippondenso ac compressor from my 6.9 that I had no use for when I put my under dash ac system in and it required the other compressor that came with it. I have all the...

    Steering Fun

I've been running it 2wd but with the hubs locked and then in straight sections throwing the t case in 4x4 on the way to work and maybe they are frozen but they aren't "wallowed out" like I've had a few driveshaft u joints where they have play in them. I do kinda remember this happening after...

    Steering Fun

So this all but went away again and then the other day while I was driving home my steering had a funny feeling in it while going down the road in a straight line on the highway. While I had the steering centered, the last direction I would have told the steering box to move in would every 3...

    Ignition Help for a friend

I'm not at the truck (at work) but in the picture catbird posted above, the white plastic piece had fell out of the metal slider and when we put it back in it's like its not seating down the entire way in the metal portion that bolts to the steering column. If it is, then it's like the actuator...

    Ignition Help for a friend

It still even slides with the key but the end of the rod doesn't make contact with the back sides of the pins anymore. I don't know if the plastic part that mounts to the steering wheel just isn't down far enough or what the issue is.

    Ignition Help for a friend

The key moves and turns the rod on the side of the column though it's just not touching whatever it's supposed to make contact with inside the white plastic connector with all the terminals on the side of the column.

    Ignition Help for a friend

A buddy of mine who has helped me with some trans / clutch swaps on my quad cab and a gasser truck has a chance to get an 89 IDI F250 for basically free and since I'm at least somewhat competent with these I went to look at it with him. The truck is beautiful, but has a bad dmf and no reverse...

    Steering Fun

The worst part of this is during the TDI purchase I forgot about this issue and turned left at that turn in the IDI the other day and had forgotten about this happening for a month and the truck was fine. Hasn't happened for 1200 ish miles.. Just forgot to post on here about it and look at it. I...

    Steering Fun

So now that I got the tdi, the IDI's have been seeing a little less daily driving (although when it rains I've been driving the 6.9 and it rains almost every day here so not that much less) and the other day I had something happen before I've never had happen ever in any vehicle and I'm super...
