    Dbl7405 filter install

No chance it will fit a dana 44 or dana 50 axle setup, or would I need to trim the cross member? About time to do an oil change, leaning towards full synthetic 5w-40 with a nice filter - either fl-1995, wix or napa gold, or one of these monsters. Long interchange is one of my top goals.

    Bad 3g alternator?

Hey guys, Not sure if my alternator regulator is shot or not, I upgraded to a 3g a while ago. I installed a volt meter (along with oil pressure and coolant temperature), truck has been getting harder to start lately. Voltage at all speeds is about 13V, doesn't seem to go up with RPM. The gauge...

    Bosch glow plugs

Bosch are fantastic if you ditch the glow plug controller... about five seconds to start. Mine lasted 3 years until i bought berus just in case, saved the bosch for spares. The beru take about twice as long to heat up, thus they can take the controllers' beating. Every manufacturer is...

Any interest in a 6.9 block?

not sure on when the block was cast, don't recall on the squirters but the oil pan is off so we could take a gander. Yes I am in Salem, I am down in Albany a lot these days but my truck batteries are shot so I can't deliver. I do have an engine crane/cherry picker for loading. You are welcome...

Any interest in a 6.9 block?

Hello everyone, Sorry if this should be in the marketplace, I don't know what a fair price is for what I have so I figured I would ask here... My house caught fire back in December, it's being cleared out - probably wont be back until July/August maybe later. Anyway I need to clear some stuff...

Thanks, the antiques handled it very well. Might have to refinish some. Its the modern crap that didnt.

CA fire victim.... Filter for my A/C vent?... It's SO smokey!

Electrical fire, we lost a dog but everyone else is ok. House is stable but trashed, fire took out livingroom and patio awning. Smoke and heat damaged most of the house, i always shut the bedroom, bathroom, and office doors, but the firemen opened them to vent so they got some smell. But no heat...

CA fire victim.... Filter for my A/C vent?... It's SO smokey!

My home caught fire earlier in the week... 3m respirator (best off the shelf one at your local hardware) keeps the plastic stank out perfectly. I have to crank it down to seal because of my beard, but great otherwise.

    Brakes, tires problem

found some in the garage under some crap. Got the spare mounted! woo. Now I just have to budget and find time to redo the rear brakes and replace the rims and tires...

    Brakes, tires problem

Got the spare dropped, had to cut the damn carriage bolt that holds it to the bracket. It would turn, but just barely. Would have been better either welded in place or hex head... Anyway after I found out the floor jack was leaking I found a scissor jack, finally got the wheel off the ground...

Looking into replacing Glow plug wiring harness any good one out there.

the relays only take a a few hundred milliamps to actuate. I would use the bosch relays on anything that doesn't need the bigger 100+ amp relays, then use switches to signal them. Keeps everything high amperage inside the engine bay, only low amp signal wires to the cab. If you get the original...

    Horrible fuel mileage

Any fuel leaks will suck that fuel economy down HARD. If you don't see it on the return line kit it could be the tee at the back of the block too.

Proper way to check oil level on 7.3 idi

Nice, I will try to hunt one down. Got my donaldson filter, just need the bypass filter and some oil! I'm guessing I'll need 4 gallons of oil, i just have to pick the oil first. SO far its down to either Mobil 1 5W-40 Turbo Diesel Truck Synthetic or Blue Diamond 5W-40. Never heard of viscosity...

Looking into replacing Glow plug wiring harness any good one out there.

I've never heard of white rodgers glow plug relay... If you use the glow plug controller, I would find a stock setup. Otherwise here is how I did it: I didn't want to have anything go wrong on my truck so I made things simpler, push button starter to protect the steering wheel ignition...

    Avg coolant temp 6.9

Fantastic, good to know! I put in mechanical gauges finally, towing the trailer hard against head winds in the gorge to go camping (gusts up to 80 or more there) it didn't go past 230 or so on inclines. Maybe one blip to 235. I have electric fans on a short wide rad. Otherwise its always at 190...

This is why we don't like TTB's

can you hook a fellow oregonian up? I have a dana 44 "HD" I'm about to get new tires and don't want to ruin them. Had mine aligned a while ago. Mine might just be toe'd wrong now, the old tires continued to wear poorly. I replaced the tie rods and ball joints, adjustable camber bushings. Hell...

    Brakes, tires problem

yeah I dont want to do anything unsafe. I was just hopeful, full wheels with a lot of tread life for 500 but they are 8x170... My old tires are 285/75/R16, those firestone AT tires cost between 150-210 depending on width (ranges about 215 to 315 width). Not sure what the sweet spot is, I have...

    Brakes, tires problem

I had to order another socket, this truck came with "tuner" lug nuts, instead of the more common 6-spline they are 7-. No one here has them, but they have the tools to destructively remove them. I'll take pictures when I get the tire off! Since I need a new rim, should I upgrade to a better...

Which frantz kit did you get, was it this one? http://www.frantzfilters.com/product/frantz-filter-7-3l-powerstroke-100k-kit/ I'm thinking about making the jump to synthetic oil, 5w-40 with the donaldson filter. Would love a bypass of some sort to extend it further.

    Brakes, tires problem

Yep that sounds right on the money. I was fine all summer long. When this happened I wasn't slamming the brakes, I would say light the first pull to moderate the second. They had locked up easily a few times before on that day so I was leaving more room for stopping.

    Brakes, tires problem

No leaks ever that I'm aware of, I will have to take a look. So far, the only thing that hasn't leaked on this truck is the rear... Thanks for the suggestion, I will take a look at them! Not sure if I have one of those... This might sound dumb but I'm not sure what rear axle I even have. Where...

only starts if i jump the solenoid

Corrosion perhaps? Are you jumping the small post to hot, or jumping the two big posts? If starter cranks when jumping small post, the issue is either wiring, fuse, or starter switch in steering wheel. I put in a pushbutton for my relay, to keep from breaking the pot metal linkage in the...
