So what did you do with your truck today?
I know the feeling, I was running flux core for years until I got a bottle to go gas. They might not be as pretty but the old welds I have done have all help up fine, including the ones were I cut down the drive shaft for my DT swap. John Deere 4039T swap into a pickup truck....
I remember seeing a guy on youtube that was doing some swaps with john deere engines. I believe he was claiming some pretty high mileage numbers but did not really show any under hood shots. I would suspect the major headache would be tying the engine and transmission together. I am not sure...- subway

So what did you do with your truck today?
I had the Low Boy version of that tractor and you are right, they were built in a different time. Cool to use but more a novelty with my zero turn moving WAY faster. I also did not like how the deck pushed you after you press in the clutch to stop or reverse. That and the wifey can easily fire...- subway

yeah, as long as it is the same body style. i know they changed the latches a little throughout the years. i am not sure what the cut off is but if you grab the matching latch on the bed side you should be able to make any of them work.- subway

Rear axle problem
do you know if you have any thread left on the axle tube, if that is stripped you might be hosed. the axle tube is part of the overall housing i dont think you can change them without a lot of setup/machine work. if you think just the nut is stripped i would try a tungsten carbide bit on a...- subway

Bonded or riveted brake shoes?
i dont overly worry about it but i have had a couple of bonded brakes come apart, one set was still in the box. these were all your run of the mill big chain parts stores. sounds like you have it figured out.- subway

Mystery fuel leak
i had a leak that was driving me a little crazy at one point. it turned out to be the adapter on the #1 line. somehow the adapter had what looked like a scratch on the sealing surface where the line goes into the injector. not much but it was enough of an impression/imperfection that it leaked...- subway
