    Oilburners 2019 Gatlinburg Rally

Holy Moly that is a drive! looks like 18 hrs on the road time, it would be great to meet you in person though if you pull that off. at least you don't have to cross a mountain range to get here. i remember driving back home to central PA from Whichitaw Falls (outside Dallas Forte Worth), about...

    Oilburners 2019 Gatlinburg Rally

i think Chris summed it up well overall, like hanging out with all your friends for a week. we are a family friendly group that used trucks to hang out together lol. we enjoy checking out each others hard work done on vehicles and just relaxing for the week. Usually at least one official pot...

    U-Joint Counsel

i agree, remove that u-joint first and make sure the yoke is just not spring loaded. if it is truly bent i would try to straighten it first. if the yoke cant hold the u-joint tightly anymore you can dimple around the inside of the yoke to give more bite on the u-joint itself.

    A great loss.

This is another huge loss, he is a cornerstone in this place. Blessings to him and his family. I will miss that helpful ornary man. It is something that he passed around veterans day from service related issues. I am glad I got a chance to meet and know him.

    Centrifuge RPM

that is a wide open question, sort of like what rpm does an engine need to drive up a hill? what kind of engine, how step a hill, etc when i was looking into trying to build my own years ago it seemed to break down into centrifugal or centripetal force. the greater the measure of gravitates or...

    Big Ugly goes to rehab

yea i am not sure some of the off shore stuff is the same quality and letting them sit on the shelf over time can let them go out of round. looks like the brakes are going to be much better, i know mine started acting up when the welded post in the center top of the backing plate broke off...

    Lockout hub question

the inner stub shaft is supported by bearing but not the outer. it is actually better to use 4x4 on a regular basis. i think to many front axels die early because they are never used and get crusty. sort of like only starting a car once a winter for snow and expecting no problems when it sat...

    Lockout hub question

i put a set of the super winch hubs on and they worked loose and corroded quickly. i am not sure what they coated the aluminum with, or if it has anything but within a few months they looked 10 years old. i even used a little torque wrench to set the torque and they still got loose and water got...

    Lockout hub question

if that axle never spins it should be ok. otherwise the far end of the stub shaft is not held axially and can flop around hitting metal on metal between the spindle and stub shaft.
