    EPA & VW

Interesting! I had been under the impression that VW was going to start using urea injection in either 2015 or 2016 (never heard a final verdict before the scandal hit), but that none of the '09-'14 cars had it. But, since I want a wagon, I've been following the Jetta more closely than the...

    EPA & VW

From what I gather, the value's so low that, if you don't own one and were in the market, it might be worth going after one. I'm considering it; my '01 ALH is pushing 200K and while the engine's fine, I'm a bit nervous about the rest of the car (my daily driver). On the other hand, a big part...

    Hydroboost Question

That's one of my favorite sayings! I do wonder how duct tape would hold up to brake fluid, though...let alone brake fluid under pressure...

    Hydroboost Question

I haven't had any direct experience, but I've heard that '80-'86 slant-nose trucks used SAE fittings on the brake lines, whereas '87-'97 trucks use metric fittings for the brake lines...and, for this reason, while everything else will bolt on. you can't use a brick-nose/OBS master cylinder on a...

May as well make it official...I have to bow out of this one  to make a very long story short, I have some family issues that I have to deal with this weekend. You guys have fun, and hopefully I'll see you all next time (Labor Day?) ;Sweet

What did you do with your diesel conversion today?

Hey, even the Pinto has a following cookoo :rotflmao Seriously, to each his own, but I wouldn't want one...I'll stick with my TDI or an OM617 for a car diesel ;Sweet

    Dodge or chevy transmission?

Does a non-computer controlled automatic exist that has a lockup converter and an overdrive gear? Personally, I'd strongly advocate for going manual. It'll probably be cheaper than building the automatic to handle the engine, and it'll give you fewer problems further down the road.

What did you do with your diesel conversion today?

I'm guessing the small V8 diesels were cheaper to build and sell to Ford, and that was the main driving factor...

Vehicle prep before making a long haul ?'s

I've heard mixed reviews of Glowshift's quality. I've been running an Isspro pyro on my truck for 11 years and have been very happy with it, and I would recommend Isspro to anyone. One thing I would suggest...after securely connecting the thermocouple leads to the wires going to the pyro...

My son bought into IDI world

Do you mean to say that you're going to deprive your son of the joys of learning how to keep his own truck maintained? Tsk tsk tsk... Seriously, looks like a nice "starter" rig! Congrats to him! ;Sweet

SF Bay Area memorial day weekend 2016 GTG.

FYI I may have to cancel. Nothing's certain yet, but I may have to run to Southern California that weekend. Will update when I know for sure.

What did you do with your diesel conversion today?

Congrats on getting the a/c up and running ;Sweet You might want to update your signature; that doesn't look much like a 7.3L IDI turbo to me ;Poke :sly

Bricknose (1987-1991) Red Interior pieces, SF Bay Area, CA

All four A-pillar trim pieces and the lone late XLT door panel are gone, and I have the '87 door panels, but shipping the door panels are expensive enough that I really don't think it's worth it (for that matter, I also have a dash chassis, but there's no way shipping that is viable...you'd be...

Bricknose (1987-1991) Red Interior pieces, SF Bay Area, CA

I know what you mean...so, do you still have any interest in the parts you were asking about? I still have them at the moment, but I'm hoping to make everything disappear this evening... {Edit} There's been a reprieve...I'll be holding on to the stuff until next Monday, the 16th. So, let me...

    SPIDER INFESTATION!!!

The last time I tried that with WD-40, I found that they were using a new formula that isn't flammable. Ether (starting fluid) works wonders, though!! ;Sweet
