Pretty common mod here. 38 gallon rear and stock 19 front tank. The tank should come with longer hangers for the skid plate and parts to mod the sender. You'll have to ditch the stock spare carrier though.

I've had great life out of Mobil synthetic wheel bearing grease. No idea on the moly content.
I'm in the "no grease on the rear bearings" club. I soak them in gear oil (what they live in back there) and install. I park side hill and the swap the truck around (meaning both sides of the rear...
The issue is room in front of the radiator on the '83-86 rigs. There is plenty of clearance to move the radiator back a bit with either V-belt or serp. The serp setup just exchanges all the belts for just one single belt. The radiator fan is still in the same spot which is the limit for...
The '99 IC is 1.5 inches thick if IIRC and that's why I chose that distance to move the rad. I was able to just flip the condenser mounts around and they bolted right up. The lines weren't an issue at all buddy.
Heath
Scott is correct. I moved the radiator back (1.5 inches) by modifying the rad support, not the radiator for the reasons he mentioned in his post. Cut and moved the lower support pins back. Cut some 1.5in rectangular tube and drilled bolt holes with longer bolts for the upper radiator mount...
Yes that will work. I've done this a few times and used the same block off plate for a BBC. Never needed any modifications. They should just bolt right in place of the mechanical lift pump.
Heath
That stinks man. But at least they were able to move the dates. I'm going to be just coming back from Georgia when you guys are starting the reschedule in May.
Heath
I'm late to the party Rob, but man that stinks she puked on you. So glad you were able to rebuild it and keep the coolest ranger in the US on the road with the 4BT under the hood.
How's she running now?

That was my thought. Have similar squeak from the TOB. I pull the fork and boot off the bellhousing every time I change the oil in my F250 with the T19. I reach in the best I can blindly and work grease into the TOB. The squeak goes away for a while, but always comes back. If I knew what I...
This is how I've installed every intake manifold on every IDI I've had open for whatever reason. Have you tried this technique yet? I would not want to gouge out the bolt holes in the intake.

I have the lower compression Mahle's in my 6.9. Went that route only because the block needed 0.007 taken off to get the head decks flat again. But, it doesn't start as easily as my 7.3 and you have to glow plug it if the weather isn't hot. Spring, fall, and winter... not going to start...
Oh we're still producing coal.... just going overseas now. Worked in a county where there were two jobs available to young people. Mine coal, or work at the coal fired power plant. Neither exist now 8 years later. The place has no work and a huge meth/opiate problem now.
But people...
Wouldn't recommend it either. My F450 gets 14.5mpg at best. All the emissions equipment ruins the fuel efficiency. My '86 F350 gets 17-18mpg and it's far from stock.
Tell me what's worse... burning much more fuel with no soot...... or much less fuel with some exhaust soot?
I know my...
Definitely time for an IP and injectors. They are way past their service life. Could be fuel related, but a video would help. Drive it and see how it acts in that RPM range.
Heath
How many miles on the injectors and injection pump?
Used oil analysis?
Miss only when rev'ing in neutral?
Oil consumption between changes?
What trans?
Video of this happening?
Heath
Exactly... Works amazing! I search for big rig pumps with I need fuel. I'm so spoiled by the fast filling time, it kills me waiting for a regular diesel pump to fill the tanks.

I used Mahle in my 6.9 rebuild. Can find whatever you need in the link above.
Heath
She's too small for your nozzle! LOL
Can't get a big rig pump nozzle in there.... Plus it would like take a month to fill a tank. TransferFlow used to make really nice filler necks for these rigs. I'd be shocked if they still do.
My F350 had the TransferFlow filler necks installed when I...
