7.3 IDI-T Freeze plugs and install tool?

It looks like all of the plugs I've found online from dealers are NLA. What IH/Navistar sites do you guys have good luck with? Is the OEM plug a must? Any chance the 7.3 PowerStroke is the same plug?

7.3 IDI-T Freeze plugs and install tool?

I am in need of factory Ford/Motorcraft/Navistar stainless freeze plugs and the install tool or dimensions to make my own. Anyone have extra plugs or the tool they'd be willing to sell, rent or borrow? Thanks!

    Front "rumble" with hubs locked

Where are the spindle bearings? I have a screeching sound for the first few miles from the front end when the hubs are locked. The wheel bearings are good and the u-joints are new. I assume it is the caged needle bearings but I don't recall seeing any when I did ball joints or serviced the...

valve stem seals and oil consumption

Another vote for some MMO or SeaFoam in the oil and a good long hard pull. Something with extended periods of constant boost and EGT's near 1000*F. She'll either clean up or give up. Good luck!

'94 IDIT. Is it supposed to have dingers for key in ignition and lights on?

Yes. There is a control box under the center of the dash. It also dings for seatbelts. Most have been removed or unplugged by previous owners because they were so irritating.

    Fuel Injection Pump Wiring Issues?

Sorry, I read past that. To eliminate any wiring/key issues, run a jumper straight from the battery to the IP solenoid and try again. This will ensure the solenoid remains open and energized.

Who makes the best valve cover gaskets?

I've been happy with my new, rigid rubber gaskets from FelPro. I sealed them to the valve covers with RTV so I didn't have them flopping around when I installed the VC's to the head. So far, so good.

    Fuel Injection Pump Wiring Issues?

If the rear injectors are getting fuel, the fuel solenoid isn't really a suspect anymore. Fuel filter full? Try cracking a few of the easy to access lines coming from the rear of the IP and verify fuel is coming out there. If it is, tighten them back up, put a charger or a set of jumper...

    Vacuum Pump Oil?

I changed my vac pump oil 8 years ago with some 80-90w synthetic gear oil. I filled it to the fill hole. No issues before or after.

'94 IDIT runs rough, low power, nearly overheating after Moose IP

I've added a 4 pillar pod with an oil psi and coolant temp gauge. And got her all cleaned up from the swap.

'94 IDIT runs rough, low power, nearly overheating after Moose IP

I've got over a thousand miles on her and all is going well! Good power, good driveability and the turbo whistle is fantastic. It is amazing how all of the little exhaust leaks add up. Thanks again for the manifolds, I surfaced, blasted and repainted them. They've been perfect. I have an...

    BATTERIES AND STARTING

I can start my truck using 1 group 65 Interstate. Both batteries are used during starting and for everything else all of the time assuming they are still wired from the factory. Not sure if that answers your question.

    Project Big Blue

Looks great! Do you mind telling me what size the large square pipe plug is for the drivers side coolant port? I'm ready to plumb my temp gauge but I can't fish the correct size wrench in there. I'm just interested in what size open end wrench or 8 point socket fits on there.

    My 1994 F-350 4x4 CC TD

Swapped out the 3 pillar pod for a 4 pod unit. I used a GlowShift water temperature and oil pressure gauge to keep tabs on the new engine. I opted to retain the factory sender so the dash gauge wouldn't sit pegged on L. I will streamline the plumbing in the future.

So what did you do with your truck today?

We have a storm free week coming up so it was time to get her washed up and some wax slapped on. New bugshield arrives tomorrow!

Power steering pressure line o-ring size?

If you are referring to what looks like a small black O-ring, I'm not any help. My hose does not have that. It does however have a small white teflon seal that rides in the top groove near the hex flats. Here is the package, they are stocked at our Napa and Amazon. The nut will snug down...

'94 IDIT runs rough, low power, nearly overheating after Moose IP

Filled it up with a new oil filter and another $100 bucks in fresh fluids and fired it off. Oil pressure holds 45 psi cold and drops to 16 psi when nice and hot at idle.

'94 IDIT runs rough, low power, nearly overheating after Moose IP

I contacted Promar and recieved an apology as well as a complete gasket kit. They overnighted it and I had it by 8 am the next day, ready to go back together. We cleaned the piss out of the galley hole and staked in a new plug with red loctite and a drift that we lathed down the night before to...

'94 IDIT runs rough, low power, nearly overheating after Moose IP

I took a gamble and stripped down the front of the engine in frame. I really didn't want to remove the engine. I was greeted by a passenger side oil galley plug that had popped out from behind the cam gear.

'94 IDIT runs rough, low power, nearly overheating after Moose IP

Can anyone confirm the size or PN for the oil galley plugs behind the cam gear? I think they are 1/2". Dorman 555-074?

'94 IDIT runs rough, low power, nearly overheating after Moose IP

Promar authorized me to troubleshoot as necessary. They feel like it is one of the under cam front plugs. Their reasoning is that the psi is so low that a oiler/squirter by itself would not cause a near 0 reading. They feel the cam plug is large enough to be the culprit. What do you guys...

'94 IDIT runs rough, low power, nearly overheating after Moose IP

I just removed the rear oil cooler header and inspected the psi regulator valve. It looks beautiful and slides smoothly. Dang it. Promar asked me to start the engine with the header removed. I did and there was a spectacular gush of oil exiting from the oil ports in the oil cooler bundle. I...
