    I unbolted the AC compressor from the engine and gently flopped it over to the driver's fender and zip tied it to the battery tray. It was never in the way during my engine swap and had enough slack to re-position it.

    Perfect. Yes, make sure it moves freely and you can apply some shop air to it to make sure it slides smoothly and closes all the way. If that hangs open you'll obviously lose most of your oil pressure.

    If you wrap a piece of paper up in a tube and stick it in the filler tube that will exclude the blow by from rushing past the threads in the tube. That was causing the whistle sound on my previous engine. Then you can really hear the gears whirring along.
