    Out of curiosity, how do these end up getting damaged? I’d assume that it could be a sign that the previous owners ran the motor without an intake often enough to suck debris to damage the screen…?

    I’m Starting on reassembly now with the new oil cooler bundle. Decided to go with the siliconed felpros for this reassembly since a similar material (different brand) sealed up nicely to the block.

    Thanks for the response. The tinkering is part of the ownership of these rigs and that is familiar turf. Here in the mid Atlantic there isn’t a ton of availability for parts motors. Yards are commonly empty, and nearest parts motor anre often 3+ hours away.

    Pulled the cooler back off, found this: A split o-ring. When I rebuilt the cooler with new o rings, I managed to slice the outer oring somehow. Despite being careful and gentle, it still happened. Not much to do about that except put new rings back on and try again. Check out this debris

    Thanks for the input & took your advice to heed extreme caution, so I cancelled the order. Has anyone had success with the Dorman oil coolers available from rock auto for $298? I know it’s Dorman(->Chinese), and that their motto is “why do the job once when you can do it twice?”
