Good price for used factory turbo?

The guy says he’s firm at $950

Good price for used factory turbo?

I had thought that going with pistons to lower the compression was necessary but if it isn’t then id rather hold off on that for now. Did you magnaflux your block or get any machine work to your block when you did this swap

Good price for used factory turbo?

I’m wondering if I should just buy a 90cc pump and injectors for around $1500 and drive it first before buying the turbo. The truck takes a bit to start and I don’t know the age of the pump or injectors currently on it. I guess I should start thinking about getting some turbo pistons to lower...

Good price for used factory turbo?

Good to know, I’ll start pricing this out. I haven’t rebuild a turbo before but I’d imagine you’d need a press, which I have.

Good price for used factory turbo?

I’ve got an E350 van 7.3idi with the massively long oil tube. I bet that could work. I have the C6. I was considering getting a gear vendors until I can afford a manual swap one day.

Good price for used factory turbo?

That’s what I was thinking but I wasn’t totally sure. Thanks

Good price for used factory turbo?

Sounds like piece mealing one together would be more expensive. What are the factory turbo units called/code? I’m a bit unclear on the Sidewinders, ATS093 and others that were offered and what is considered “factory”

Good price for used factory turbo?

Does the transmission you plan to go with in the long run make a difference on any of the turbo components that you go with?

    C6 no shift

I pulled the vacuum line out of the brake booster and it had good suction. I found this online about the VAV. https://www.nickpisca.com/diesel/fuel-system/proper-idi-vrv-adjustment-and-calibration/ it reads like it assumes that you have a known good working valve. Haven’t yet checked the...

    7.3 IDIT Bearings and rings

I’m going to guess that in order to use N/A pistons on a now-turbo’d N/A then you’ve got to use a thicker head gasket right? Do the thicker head gaskets suffer from higher failure rates?

Overboring 7.3 is asking for trouble…right?

Was pricing out an engine wish list through Summit and I’m seeing that stock pistons for a 7.3 n/an and 7.3 turbo are hard(er) to find. Most of what I see available is .030 or even 0.040 over. Surely it isn’t that you can use oversized pistons for a sleeve job. Seems like boring out any 7.3...

Getting harder to start. Slow cranks then faster cranks.

Not to hi Jack this thread but why start another thread. I’m experiencing a similar problem that just started happening. My batteries could be reading 13.1volts and it’s still slow to crank and stays slow. The alternator outputs 13.4volts above idle when measured across the batteries. The...

    Arduino Gauges

This is a fascinating read, and now I’m lost in the sauce. The extent of my experience with arduino is using an Uno to measure the lux in a room to turn a lamp on and off automatically, and I followed a tutorial for that. How do you convert the analog electrical signals (coolant temp, battery...

So what did you do with your truck today?

and I found this neat can on the side of the road

So what did you do with your truck today?

I tightened up the alternator belt today and cleaned the cab out. Today was trash day so I drove around and picked up a nice solid wood dresser and 4 footlockers that I’m going to use to store the truck engine parts in.

So what did you do with your truck today?

I checked, didn’t see one listed on the website. I wonder if you called that he’d say he’s got a handful left.

    C6 no shift

No I didn’t drain the torque converter. To be honest I didn’t know that and I had to look up how you do that. Either way, Rookie mistake & lesson learned. Thank you I was checking both sides and inserted and wiped about 20 times just today. I’m overfilled. I’ll drain the pan and start over.

    C6 no shift

1986 F250 with 1989 7.3 n/a & C6 from an 89 E350 swapped in. Standard sized transmission pan. Just did a fluid and filter change. I Rowed through all of the gears, drained the oil, put new pan gasket and filter in, Put 8 quarts of MECRON in. I row through each gear and sit in it for a good 10...

What does this noise sound like?

Took the f250 out for another drive today, took about 3 good sessions of cranking using glowplugs and pedal pressed to the floor. Cranked longer than I should have on the 3rd round but it kept trying to fire. It continued to pull fuel from the rear tank the whole time. Here’s another video...

What does this noise sound like?

Yup, that’s the noise that I’m referring to. It’s a metallic tink. Is it safe to drive it like this or should I take it apart sooner than later?

What does this noise sound like?

Either way gonna have to pop the cover off to take a look.

What does this noise sound like?

    Coming from the drivers side

What does this noise sound like?

Sounds to me like I have a valve train noise. I want to say I’ve heard this noise before in a video and it turned out to be an exhaust valve guide or something similar. Likely wrong. My guess is a loose rocker arm is being noisy against a push rod and they’re slapping into one another
