Alt fuel set up is awhile away, and for now I think an electric pump would help with the fuel drain back issue until I’m able to fix up all of the fuel air return.
I have manual glowplugs and run them for 6-9 seconds at a time, and cranking for 10 seconds at a time in 3 bursts at best gets the...
The next short term goals:
hook up the rest of the exhaust
find a reliable electric pump to replace the mechanical lift pump
get the wipers working
replace the driver side window regulator & door panel
get the radio working
fix the brakes (5th on my list. priorities, right? ;))
finish...
Here’s what the transmission input shaft looks like.
Now here’s what the clutch looked like where they meet.
This suggests and maybe solves the mystery of why we found it at a junkyard with a remanned motor. The T19 ate the clutch/imputing spline mating surfaces (I’m blanking on the proper...
Thank you, and the watermelon was undoubtedly the best one I’ve had so far, and would’ve been worth every penny if he were asking $20. It was *that* good.
After the 6.9 was in place, we took the forklift back home to use it to pull a running 5.0 (with working AC) out of a junked 92 f150. The forklift made quick work of pulling out the motor assembly. The story on the f150 was that the trans was bad and we found that the transmission mounts were...
After an eventful week, Finally the 6.9 is out of the elements and into the shop today!
The next steps are to open up the motor, inspect, and then hopefully clean it, and clean it up & prep for paint. I’m hopeful that a recent reman 6.9 will pass with flying colors.
I’ve got a vision of...
Brought out Self Help today to try and muscle the 6.9 onto the stand today. Bolts were 1/2” too long. Back to the store to pick up shorter bolts or more washers, and then it’s back to it.
I’m not quite following you, but I thought the condition of this throttle cable was exceptionally good. Far better than any other that I’ve seen in person.
I won’t assume that either issues have been addressed, but i wonder if the reman 6.9’s have issues with the block heater cracking, and if they still use the 7/16” head bolt sizes.

Relieved the F150’s suspension of the 1000lbs payload
Radiator, steering column. Bonus: local farmer sold me a watermelon for $3
August 6th, 2023 Update
Pick-n-Pull still had the 83 F350, so I pulled the motor, radiator & steering column today.
This was the sketchiest engine removal I’ve ever done. Pick-N-Pull’s provided A-Frame was pretty bad and the gear box was falling apart.
The other option was an A-Frame hoist...
Do I need to go back to the yard and grab the steering column from the manual for any reason on this swap?
I have an auto steering column now with a sloppy steering wheel… it probably wouldn’t hurt.
Cool, the heim joint mod… Does this also fix for that last 1” of travel and dead zone at the top where the pedal is lazy and thunks against the stop? Or is that the nylon washers on the transfer bar that I’m thinking that cause that?
I’m glad that I won’t have to go the Gear Vendor route anymore. Lots of $$$ for something that I know is temporary.
I’m constantly changing oil around here, so I amass lot of it. I won’t fool myself into thinking that running WMO will somehow be cheaper (there’s going to be a lot of trial and...
07/29/2023 Update
I found and pulled a diesel T19 from an 83 f350 today from Pick-N-Pull. It was a scorcher, but ultimately fighting the heat was worth it to now see it here at home.
It was a sketchy removal, but eventually I got it.
The whole job took me exactly 4 hours from start...
Intro:
Hello! I think that I’m allergic to money because I appear to have developed a thing for non-running IDI’s. You could say that I have a type. Anyways, I’m tying my disjointed 1986 F250 posts together here using this thread.
This thread will document my journey towards building an...
This factory turbo kit would be $950+$775 rebuild from Russ+ $80 install kit+ $100 Downpipe + $300 for extra margin = $2200 and i begin to think that the banks complete kit is a no-headache deal...
Im looking for modest power, nothing big. No heavy hauling, just the occasional dump trailer load for landscaping and building material.
I was considering just buying the full banks kit for $3500 but I need to save up a long time for that route.
