IDI Shop in Tennessee for Head Gasket Job?

This hides problems rather than fixing problems, which is fine but you need to be aware that your basically putting a band aid on and your not gonna be ok forever.

Is your door straight? Mine isn’t and doesn’t line up and has no hope of touching a seal on the passenger side.

    Pulled a 1987 out of a hole

That would likely be necessary to prevent boost leaks as well. I am NA and I think I would rather machine up a bung to weld into the air cleaner just above the intake hole. The Cummins style grid heater is also available but I think it would be more difficult to adapt. The Cummins uses only a...

    Pulled a 1987 out of a hole

I think on an NA if you put it near the manifold “mouth” it would probably be close enough. On the idit isn’t your air filter way far away and pre turbo?

    Pulled a 1987 out of a hole

Has anyone tried installing a diesel intake air heater like they have on some modern rigs? Seems like it could be neat. We have about 10-20 degrees here most days currently and I don’t always have block heat, she does fine but everything helps...

    96 First Powerstroke

Turns out the bulk of my hard starting problems is batteries, they were fully charged and I left them unplugged just sitting in the truck for 2 weeks as I suspected it had a draw and they were giving me 12 volts but no amps would barely crank and quickly would do nothing but they still had...

Where to get injector copper washers in-store?

I do not want to know what mine would compression test as. It runs really great for being half buried for 10+ years and that’s good enough.

Driver's door suddenly hard to close right

Sometimes the door will have major slop but only at one point of the rotation so you have to wiggle up and down and throughout its swing to find the slop.

Finally got around to testing, and then replacing the glow plugs.. 4 stuck.

Finally got around to testing, and then replacing the glow plugs.. 4 stuck.

I drove my 6.9 up a steep grade too my in laws, parked it for 6 hours in 25 degree weather and when I got back out to it (no block heat nothing just sitting) the radiator was still warm to the touch, the engine was warm, warm air out the vents and she fired right up with hardly any glow plugs...

    Pulled a 1987 out of a hole

I still have some injector area fuel “weeps” not quite leaks, I dont think it’s from the R and D rails and it’s not blown out o rings. Nothing shows on the soapy water test so it’s not a serious compression leak or anything I think it’s crusty ancient injectors, old copper washers, and crusty...

    Pulled a 1987 out of a hole

This bad boy is one of my favorite aftermarket organizing parts but I need a (preferably under hood) source for key on power for the relay that feeds it. Before I go scrounging anyone have any ideas? Usually I use choke heater circuits but I’m not in my carborated happy space anymore.

    Pulled a 1987 out of a hole

They are in and everything seems good so far! Yes I did it all standing on my head and I actually talked to Justin on the phone most helpful guy ever and I had to replumb almost everything as I had the 3/16ths system and I ended up removing a whole bunch of extra junk very happy with it.

    Pulled a 1987 out of a hole

If I spray soapy water at one of my glowplugs it blows bubbles like it’s the end of time. Is that a compression leak? Is it a problem?
