Radiator mounting screws spinning in place

Definitely worth while getting new hardware once you get it apart. I believe it’s M8x1.25 https://a.co/d/62HUwSE You can get assorted kits of body bolts and u nuts too

    8th Gen 7.3 IDI C.O.I?

You can find aftermarket mounts. I picked some up from autozone a couple months ago and they were fine. For wiring, I definitely recommend checking out https://www.ididiesel.com/ He should have everything you need, I just bought his glowplug harness for IDIT and it was super good quality...

    8th Gen 7.3 IDI C.O.I?

I used a universal intercooling kit to save some $$$. This is the one I used. https://www.cxracing.com/intercooler-kit-universal/intercooler-kit-universal-31-12-4-ic-with-piping/IC0023-KIT300-L-J-EB4590 The intake I used a KN filter. I struggled getting that big Donaldson air filter everyone...

    Rear Main Seal Questions

Yes, from the top surface of the pan. The pan can fill up with oil easily if your grommet for your turbo pedestal is leaking (if you have a turbo motor). Possibly some from CDR if you have an NA too. And yeah any fuel dribbling out of injector lines and return caps will pool there and drain out...

    Rear Main Seal Questions

Now that you mention that, yeah it looks like there is a sleeve already installed there. Take your time getting it off and be careful. Not sure what the best method is. @IDIBRONCO recommended me to use a chisel to carefully split it. That’s what I did and it worked out for me. Also make sure...

    Rear Main Seal Questions

Damn that’s a hell of groove! I did my recently and it definitely didn’t look like that. I’m sure it will still seal with the speedy sleeve and some permatex. Also that hole at the top there is where the valley pan drain comes out. If I remember right there is a like a square drive plug at the...

    High Idle/Cold Advance Question

Here’s my rudimentary design for a ‘wife proof’ high idle/cold advance manual shut off. A momentary push button engages a latching relay… latching relay kills high idle and cold advance circuit… latching relay is reset when engine comes to temp and switch opens up and drops out an interposing...

    High Idle/Cold Advance Question

I love that idea, but my wife drives the truck too and I know she would never remember to switch it off LOL EDIT: actually a better idea would be to put the switch in series with the factory switch. That way it’s fail safe in the sense that the factory switch will eventually kill the circuit in...

    High Idle/Cold Advance Question

Does anyone know at what water temp the high idle and cold advance are supposed to kick off? Currently mine shuts off at about 130F. As the truck gets closer to temp it’s starts to sound likes it’s gonna run away LOL. It a slow crescendo where it gets really loud and fast and when it shuts off...

Electric Fuel Pump Setup - Is this no good?

I run a Holley black along the frame and deleted/blocked off the mechanical pump. Been running it for about 2 months w/ no issues. But I always carry extra fuses in the truck just in case. Personally, I like not having the mechanical pump. It makes purging air out of the fuel lines/maintenance...

    Pending Machine Work

https://www.summitracing.com/parts/MAH-2243508WR Though I feel like with all the money youre planning on dumping into it with performance parts and machine work, it’s probably worth while to get turbo pistons and rods. They still make reduced compression turbo pistons too which may help your...

Installed Dreg's Garage's brass return caps

If you want ease of maintenance, go with the brass caps. I have the R&D fuel rails and they are beautiful and work nice but are a pain in the ass to install. Having to remove and trouble shoot a single injector becomes a big chore with the fuel rails, which I’ve had to do several times already.

Best location for a fuel CHECK VALVE???

Thanks for that info, I was unaware of that!

Best location for a fuel CHECK VALVE???

I’m interested in understanding this better. I don’t have any knowledge of what goes on inside that pump. Can you explain why a check valve would be beneficial on the return port of the IP? Currently I don’t have any check valve on my system

    Idi build

Sleeves are not cheap! The machinist I had sleeve my block in NJ charged $2500 just for the labor of installing the sleeves. Old school guy, did a fantastic job with the heads and the block but I think it would’ve been the same price for me to ship it all the way to Wyoming to Justin and have...

    Doomsday Dually Project

Oh my lord, she’s a different truck with the 4” exhaust. Just took it for a quick test ride and was hitting 17psi and the turbo just lights off sooo much faster. I had to hit the pedal for awhile before to get up to even just 8 psi. Now that needle just swings up 15. I don’t care for the extra...

    Doomsday Dually Project

Hate to say it but the maxtow/glow shift really have not been good. Boost has been in and out working, and after a month of driving the EGT just crapped out. Ya try to cut some corners and save a few bucks and it just bites you in the ass. Looks like I’m gonna eat the cost and pay up for some...

    Overflow bottle

What pressure is your cap rated for? At 13lbs my reservoir doesn’t fill up very much without towing. Maybe only rises an inch (I seem to run steady at 185 deg F w/o towing).

    Doomsday Dually Project

@FrozenMerc very well and thoughtfully explained. Been a long time since I’ve taken thermodynamics but a lot of that knowledge has stuck with me. Was a mech-e in school but my job is in the electrical/power distribution and generation sector. A mass airflow sensor would be pretty cool though...

    Doomsday Dually Project

So I messed around with a number of things this morning, I took the boost sensor back out and cleaned it up, re-tightened all my clamps on the silicone boots, and locked out the waste gate. What a difference! I’m getting about 11-12 psi on the gauge now when I really step on it. And my EGTs...

Unusual coolant leak on 1993 7.3 IDI factory turbo

What did the pipe look like when you did it? Was it rusty and nasty? Since you already did it once, I’d recommend taking that pipe off, power wire brushing it where the hose contacts it and replace the thermostat while your at it. Get it cleaned till it’s nice shiny metal.

ISO a guy that could help me time my 93 non turbo.

LOL I was bracing myself after that comment. I purchased the 3300s kit directly from DTI and I wasn’t too happy with it. Couldn’t get any readings at 2000 rpm with the magnetic pickup. And using the light it was all over the place. Dialing it down to like 1700 rpm I could get readings but...

ISO a guy that could help me time my 93 non turbo.

Not worth buying the expensive timing meter in my opinion. Start off in the center, then keep advancing it till it sounds like dog crap, marbles, and pinging. (Rotate to passenger side) Then back it the other way a dime. Keep playing with it till your pleased with the performance. If you’re...

    Doomsday Dually Project

I’d like to rule everything out before I go bothering them. I thought the gauge was working but now it’s not. Might try a mechanical setup to test it
