2001 7.3 PSD electric fuel pump life expectancy
had one fail on the dually at 293k, had a used one fail on my other truck, not sure of miles there was well over 260k on the one in my 03 when i unneccesarily replaced it. some where around 260k on the one in the van and the one in the 00 havent really heard of many failures- Double-S-Diesel

warn and mile marker make some after market ones I have mile markers in my 03 stock ford ones from the older dana 60s and 50s will also fit- Double-S-Diesel

you could probably make them work all you would need is vaccumm and a pulse lock selonid and a switch.' haveing said that there are not many factory set ups still working. i know at least on our quarry trucks there arent any still going, on the couple that i have had they dont work. didnt make nothing on the brakes they cost me big, 4 calipers, 3 hoses, and pads the whole way around- Double-S-Diesel

Strange electrical issues.... GEM?
i would say either the gem or a possibility the fuses box is bad ran into a few bad fuse boxes due to water leaking onto them- Double-S-Diesel

Clutch problem
had the same thing happen in my 96 about 10 yrs ago. it was also in the cold. dont know what the cause was, didnt change anything and it never did it again- Double-S-Diesel

Torque Converter Shifting in/out of lockup
check all you lights including parking lightts and 3rd brake lite had a 96 that the liscensce lite was out and that caused an isssue also had a 02 van with the 3rd brake lite out do that other thing to look at is trailer brake control id installed, had one in a 97 that was causing an issue- Double-S-Diesel

Fuel filler hole vs truck lane nozzles
been awhile since i messed with the older trucks, but I do remember that on some years we took and punched out the restricter in the fuel neck to fit the bigger nozzle also ran a seperate vent hose to the side of the filler neck from the top of the tank I know my 96 i did that something like...- Double-S-Diesel

ZF5 and T19 Switcheroo
use the t-19 flywheel, clutch and tcase along with the cross memeber. same when you put the zf in use all the zf suff. did this a while back, put a t-19 from an 83 in a 92 that was auto then zf5 before i got it. also put a t-19 from a 84 in a 88 that had a zf5. cant remember what i did for...- Double-S-Diesel
