Priming the Fuel System w/ Mechanical Lift Pump

Not bad, but if you like to have all fuel lines tight, or closed or whatever you call that, I would suggest you take the little insert out of the schrader valve on the filterhead, connect the pumps suction hose on there, maybe with a hoseclamp? and start pumping, the fuel will arrive quickly...

how much time before 7.3 is warm? outside temp now 10*C

Just a little theorie from my side, I might be wrong I might be right? As far as I know, a cooling system with a thermostat in it should work like this, isn't it? little circuit includes heater system in the truck, That's the first one to warm up when engine runs. Big circuit, is after the...

how much time before 7.3 is warm? outside temp now 10*C

It is a bit logic though, you have the small circuit which warms up first, then the thermostat opens and cold fluid from the big (radiator) circuit flows in, and that makes the thermostat close partially(or maybe completely?) until it's again at it's opening temp. and then it reopens, and so on...

Anti Cavitation test strips and bottles where to get these days?

But than you must know for sure that you have good ones, not already perished ones to start with?!

how much time before 7.3 is warm? outside temp now 10*C

If so, I might start experimenting with cardboard before the radiator. and I have to have some more patience, since France is very difficult with registering US vehicles, For me it turns out to be a multi year event, and I'm almost there, I need to go somewhere in January to have the annual...

how much time before 7.3 is warm? outside temp now 10*C

It seems I fall from one issue in another one... While running my test drive today I noticed that my water temp gauge is reading fairly low, actually not even coming onto the scale. it just leaves the letter C, and not coming into the scale which reads "Normal". I did measure the in and outgoing...

    Could this be the solution?

with all of your help! without that, I probably still was in the boondocks!? Thanks to you all!

    Could this be the solution?

well, Had the test drive, I think my problem is solved now. running byways for 1H30, and nothin special occurred, did all, apart highway's. running slow, accelerating slowly, downhill, and even Foot to the metal up to 60 Miles/h and no hesitation. I think she's cured now? what do you think...

    Could this be the solution?

well, testing done, see the results: could it be that the jumping of the needle in the first one indicates lots of air in the fuel? (after all it was a dry pump?) you see later on in the second it almost dissapears.

    Could this be the solution?

Great! Only a pity that I already have my pump mounted before I read all this :-( I have had a hard time installing my pump, most of it because it was hard to install the bolts, and then specially, aligning the bolt holes against the spring pression, That was the hardest. Thanks for the info...

    Could this be the solution?

I know, but with all the things installed around, (I'm working from above) and working against the pressure of the spring I find it difficult to get the holes lined up and let the bolts grip. so I prefer to turn the engine to the TDC. No1 cilinder is pass. side towards the radiator, isn't it?

    Could this be the solution?

how can I put this engine (7,3) at TDC? it seems to be necessary to install the lift pump. i can't find a description or how to.

    Could this be the solution?

i have experimented with another system, i've put a suction hose from a e-pump on the schrader valve without the insert and fill-up the pump and filter that way.

Anti Cavitation test strips and bottles where to get these days?

I'm not really sure, It's yellow-greenish fluo, like we had in the army, but I get it from my garagist, and he gets it out of big blue barrels without any label on it, All I know is that it's protected to -35*C

    Could this be the solution?

I guess you can see which is the new one? I do wonder, that long lever, it's different between the old and the new one. Does it make a difference in it's function? all other connections are the same. at this point I stopped anyway, it's raining cat's and dog's over here!

    Automatically priming fuel system hack

As you said. people living in modern (mostly) cities doe often not realise that there are many many area's on this globe (earth) that do not yet live in the same luxuries as they do. Many laws are made by those people, trusting that those laws are made for people in the same circumstances, and...

    Automatically priming fuel system hack

I didn't say it failed, I said (from what I read) that they regular have difficulty in getting the correct volume of diesel to the IP.

Anti Cavitation test strips and bottles where to get these days?

I was reading trough some articles regarding Cavitation of our engines. Most of these articles were from 2008 and a bit later. Now I'm wondering, if I still can get these test strips, and the bottles of that product, was that DCA? and if their parts numbers are still valid? and if by any...

    Automatically priming fuel system hack

I did some reading lately on E-pumps, mostly the Carrier/Facet pump, and I noticed that some people encounter problems with these in when the engine turns at higher Rpm's, I'm not sure if it has to do with the flow capacity? also I've read that the fuel pressure on those pumps is 9-11Psig, which...

Hmmm, I have one like that, but it definitely doesn't have the narrow axle, it was build up as a ambulance, would that have made a difference?

I'm sorry, never heard the term "C&C" for a truck? I do know Chevy has a standard narrow dually axle, but as far as I know that's the only one?

Nice! but how is that done? a small gage dually? or a arrowcraft conversion on a factory srw?
