    Burned up wire and batteries

Smooshed-ded the wire. Glad you found it. Bringing back a stone dead battery can also be done in the vehicle if you want to cheat. Hook up the charger and turn on the park lights. Park lights get current flowing and after about 10 minutes, turn off the lights and let the battery continue to...

    TPS Voltages?

Thank you for the link, I will be looking at that shortly.I am in the final stages of adding an Allison trans and it is in dire need of a functional TPS. The kit I received has a remote TPS adapter and looking at the truck, it already has one and as they operate on 5 volts, converting one to the...

    TPS Voltages?

Hello one and all. Just wondering what the operational range is suppose to be on the TPS in a '94 7.3 idiT? 5.009V input and ground is .005V static. Voltage range while moving is roughly 1.2 to 3.4V New sensor no changes, everything moved around trying to adjust. If the 1.2 drops under a volt...

ORing on dipstick tube &valve cover gaskets on ‘94 IDIT engine

Very Sorry to read of your losses. Brake clean the tube, slap some RTV on it and slide it in. I prefer gray such as auto makers use on trans and oil pans. V/C gaskets on my machine are cork, coated and let dry both sides RTV, thin coat on both the head and cover, allow to dry, then a fresh thin...

    Burned up wire and batteries

Since the vehicle was off and burned the wire, you have a live short to ground. Install the inline fuse while replacing the wire. As you inspect/replace the wire look for an obvious problem. Double check that receiver wiring. 4 wire or 7 wire? Chances are it's a 7 wire and the only question...

87 f250 fuse 15 blows when starting the truck

Smoking the fat brown wires originally, did you melt the connector and cause other issues inside the plug? One fix is to remove the fat brown wires from that plug and join them separately outside the plug. I suspect the start (crank) circuit is back feeding the run circuit. Fusible links are...

    Diagnosis hell pls help

At what point in time did you pull out the DVOM and start checking voltages and grounds? I had a few gremlins in my truck that went away when I pulled apart all the grounds, scraped them clean to bare metal, wiped with grease, remounted and another coat of grease. Your trying to swap out...

LOOKING for a 12V 'Rocker Switch' Cover

Thank you. I will look into mouser.com for that cover. Plugs to fill holes are also a common enough item. If i don't find it, I suspect either aerospace application or fabrication.

LOOKING for a 12V 'Rocker Switch' Cover

Greetings and salutations to one and all and a Happy New year! I am looking for a rocker switch cover. NOT to be confused with the simple toggle switch cover, those are a dime a dozen common. The rocker switch is the rectangular switch that about an inch wide and about 2 inches long. Any...

    4x4 Conversion

The true trac has had reports of being hyper sensitive at times. Then reading a few more lines along it works quite nicely in the larger trucks such as Crew cab. I gave mine a test both going up a hill with 3 nasty hair pin curves on it, fun part of that road is a cliff wall on one side and a...

    Classic looking brush guard

IMO a brush guard is a pita to open the hood and work on the engine. It is bolted to the frame/bumper and has no rigidity at the top. Consequently if you bend the top with any force, you will also bend the bottom even more as it is not reinforced. Yes, a brush guard can be a damage multiplier...

    Electrical draw

Brand new motor or Brand new "Rebuilt"? If a new motor, check the grounds out. I recently took all mine off, even the hidden ones behind the kick panel, cleaned the all up, scratched down to bear metal on a few, coat of grease/Dielectric compound reassemble and quite a few electrical gremlins...

    4x4 Conversion

Back again, I am in the process of doing a 4X4 conversion. Along with the fun I am adding an Allison trans to the mix with the Truetrak rear diff and the Elocker front diff in a Dana 60. The 4x4 conversion is overkill 99% of the year. The Allison with the Truetrak is where I should have stopped...

    4x4 Conversion

Before you get yourself into this project, doing it sounds good on paper but reality will show it in another shadow. What is your rear diff ratio? 4.10 or 3.79 or some such? That 4.10 might be your first step. My '94 7.3 CCDually idiT is stock with 4.10 as most DRW trucks seem to be. If your...

Does this wire go on the back of the Alt?

Greetings fellow oil burners. Trying to get this beast running in 5 more days. (okay, 7 at the most) Putting a few wires back in place and this particular twin orange fusible link wires that go into one ring terminal on the end look like they would be a perfect candidate at the main power lug...

    Not diesel

Gas in a small quantity is not going to hurt anything. Drain the tank, fill it up with real diesel, fire it up, your ruff run problems should go away in a minute or two. EGT going nuts tells me the gas ratio was a bit high.

    What new radiator to buy?

I would be tempted, at $1200, to pick up a wrecking yard unit and get it tested/cleaned for $50.

    What new radiator to buy?

I did the local"Mac's Radiator Service" with a brass'copper unit around $650 a few years ago. Rockauto was $50 cheaper but I figured if any problems arose, the local dealer would be easier to contend with.

Drop Down Running or Nerf Bars??

Apologies might be in order to the members. I believe CARID hijacked this post and listed a few items they have to offer. Not what I was quite looking for. the running boards they offer are too short to run the length of my crew cab, not enough drop and not chrome because the do not retract...

Drop Down Running or Nerf Bars??

Zero responses? Whu Happen? No ideas? Electric drop down running boards don't come up as a direct fit supposedly from suppliers. I am a believer in rule #1 "Incorporate your mistakes into the design. They might be a direct fit, but I figure I can make them work. Black if they re~track and...
