    TTB Alignment question

Did you check if the springs are sagging? That would cause negative camber.

    E4od feed bolts?

The sonnax kit should resolve the problem, since the center support is actually rocking sideways as it wears into the case. I've seen examples of spacers between the inside of the case and the center support but never tried it. The feed bolts are supposed to come new with sealant that doubles...

    ATS 088 to 093 upgrade

I'm so jealous of all that real estate you have up front. Did you remove the vertical strap that connects the latch mechanism to the bottom of the core support?

6.9 idi turbo build plan and questions!

Has anyone ever machined pistons to accept the larger wrist pins? The other thought is to use custom bushings with the forged rods to use regular size wrist pins. I don't know how feasible this is, but throwing it out there. EDIT: To answer one of the questions, I took 20 thou off the pistons...

    ATS 088 to 093 upgrade

I haven't been keeping good track of it lately. The truck has been my daily for the last several years and a 7min commute in city driving is never going to get good results because it barely reaches operating temperature by the time I get to work. And then on the weekends I'd be exploring on the...

    ATS 088 to 093 upgrade

The new EGT gauge responds pretty quickly and so far it hasn't hit 1100 degrees. However, the truck was empty and the hills are relatively short in my area. I'm pretty sold on the idea of an intercooler, just not sure which way to go yet. The radiator can be shifted toward the engine by at...

    ATS 088 to 093 upgrade

I was a bit leery of water to air intercoolers because of the "heat soak" issue mentioned in another thread. Then I revisited that thread and saw that it wasn't much of an issue. It is more complex but I suppose a failed pump wouldn't be catastrophic.

    Stub shaft wear

I have the same problem but don't have a solution yet. My plan is to simply find a shop to build me a new one, even if it means using a newer style slip coupling. It gives a vibration at 50 MPH and again around 65 MPH.

    ATS 088 to 093 upgrade

Yup, that probably would have been better. The turbo line I got from Amazon seems to work though. I have the Pyrometer installed now so the wastegate is unplugged and 15 PSI is the new limit for now. Still a hint of smoke at max power but completely clean for normal driving.

So what did you do with your truck today?

You're not kidding. Been there, done that. Got the T-shirt, and pulled muscles to prove it.

Yep, there are worse ways to spend an afternoon.

    US Gear splitter/over drive

Although the C6 was a reliable transmission, I would never go back after running the E4OD. If fuel economy is your first concern (and you don't want a manual transmission), the C6 will never win even with an auxiliary overdrive for this one simple reason: Open torque converter. It's also going...

So what did you do with your truck today?

Recent oil change, fuel line repair and still loving the new 093 turbo setup. Not that it makes a difference in these conditions. Mountain climbing is over until summer. Wasn't even able to follow the existing tracks all the way to the end. I'll tip my hat to whoever cut the trail that far ahead...

    94 ford factory turbo

You may also want to order a kit for the rest of the turbo kit seals as well. Exhaust flange, pedestal grommet, etc. @typ4 can also help you out. He carries parts for the kits.

    E4OD TC engagement

I once read an explanation that claims it will lockup again at WOT to prevent the transmission from overheating. By the time you're on the floor, it should have kicked down anyway. Never drove an OEM equipped E4OD to test this myself though.

how to go on with my E4OD

It's too bad you didn't get the latest updates in there. I would have insisted on seeing the internals before they put it back together (planetary carriers, center support bearing, sun shell are all necessary updates, IMO). However, if you keep the engine stock, you should get a decent life out...

I need to start doing that more often.

Brakes locked up but nothing looks wrong

Hmm. Well, here's an idea, but I'm not sure if it will work. First, see if you can get the brakes to drag in a repeatable manner. Once you generate the condition, pop the bleeder valve at the rear drum and see if fluid comes out slowly, or if there's an initial squirt of pressure. This will tell...

    E4OD question

Well, it doesn't help that the E4OD still has such a bad reputation so I don't blame you for being a bit paranoid. For what it's worth, mine went from driving to no movement in 2.5 days when the center support exploded (due to an assembly error 13 years ago!). It's not often that most of us...

Always filled mine (Powerstroke FL1995 Filter).

Brakes locked up but nothing looks wrong

I've seen a master cylinder cause this on front brakes once. At the time I researched other causes and old rubber hoses were also identified as a possible cause. Apparently the rubber can break down and causes the hose to pinch off and act like a check valve. What did the fluid look like when...

    E4OD question

Mine does the exact same thing even when it had zero miles on it after last year's rebuild. Nothing to worry about. Even though the clutches are not grabbing, there will still be some friction dragging on the shaft because of close clearances on all the unloaded surface area. The squealing...

    ATS 088 to 093 upgrade

Well, I made it almost a week before I unplugged the wastegate hose. Looks like I can hit 15 PSI in the higher gears. And that's without wiring the wastegate shut. Power difference wasn't crazy and I couldn't really tell if there was much smoke since I was driving in the rain and going way...

    ATS 088 to 093 upgrade

Good point! I hadn't thought about that. Since it's most noticeable at idle I could test that fairly easily at home.

    ATS 088 to 093 upgrade

70MPH = 1855 RPM in overdrive and 2620 RPM in 3rd gear. All calculated numbers. I had similar experience with intercooler improvement when I put one on our old diesel ranger years ago. The stock mitsubishi 2.3L TD has a pop off valve on the intake that supposedly opens at 14 PSI. Performance...
