They're probably fine. Most multimeters aren't very accurate at the low resistance end (say, less than 1 ohm). For that, you would need a ductor (mili-ohm meter), something most of don't have access to.
Are all the leads still connected, or did you disconnect them before retesting?
EDIT: The reason I ask, is that if all the plugs are connected into the harness, they become parallel wired. This means the multimeter will "see" less resistance (more parallel circuits = lower resistance).
If you...
I'm using Autolite 1115.
And yes, I've read the horror stories too over the years but I think those were for the direct replacement single coil plugs. These are dual coil plugs.
I tested each of them for 1min before putting them into the engine. The wire I used to power them started to melt...
I don't think the brake line passage crosses the vent passage. But even if it did, I used very light pressure to avoid making any metal swarf (the dirt was very soft). I could have turned the drill bit with my fingers but wanted to be quick to make sure there was still pressure in the housing to...
Late update on this by I think this mystery is solved.
The axle vent was indeed blocked. Photos show the problem and solution. A mixture of dust and rust powder blocked the vent port on the axle tube. To prevent this dirt from getting into the axle, I removed the fill plug (jack the truck on...
Looks plenty thick to me. The other spots can be managed. Either way, this thing is good to go another 50years. No powder coating will come close to that longevity.
Oh, and if you really REALLY want to make things perfect, there is such a thing as "flame zinc" that can be used as touchup. I'd...
You can use a high zinc primer to touch up anything that didn't get covered. Even pour it into the joints if you want. Either way, you have way more protection than any conventional paint.
Excellent. Now do the same on the front hood edge, cab corners, rear box corners and of course inside of the wheel arches. It can literally double the lifespan of the body.
Fluidfilm in a rattlecan comes with a nozzle, so it's easy to hit all the drain holes. But any oil is better than nothing.
Overthinking? I wouldn't know anything about that.
You could just use fluidfilm. I'd recommend it on the cab corners, door edges, floors and underside of the bed anyway.
The other thing to keep in mind is that this isn't the same kind of galvanizing you see on car body sheet metal, or heater ducting around your house. This is much thicker and also comes with a naturally hard surface. Even though scratches don't matter that much (due to galvanic protection), it's...
I think the seller is comparing it to other "marine" diesel engines and basing the price on that. Two rebuildable cores for $2200 CAD seems a bit high but maybe the coolers and turbos make up for it. Personally, I hate V-block engines in boats. Inlines are almost always easier to service. And...
Not my listing but thought I would share. I remember these coming up in discussion a long time ago but they seem to be pretty rare.
The ad appears recent but I've seen it on local craigslist for a few months now. It seems nobody wants them (especially at that $$$)...
I'm trying to think of what is different when the transmission is rolling that could make such a big difference (1st gear available vs not available at standstill). I was hoping the RPM might offer a clue, but it seems that has no effect.
Maybe one of the sprags is slipping???
In my case, the...
That was going to be my guess, but it sounds like he still has all 4 gears and lockup. I almost wonder if it's a line pressure issue.
@MikeT68 :
1. Can you confirm that all 4 gears and torque converter lockup are still working normally, once you're above 5mph?
2. Does the transmission try to...
This will happen to all IDI wiring harnesses eventually. Usually the heavy orange wires start to overheat and melt the connector. If the rest of the wires are still good, I would just permanently splice the two orange wires around the connector and call it good.
If the rest of the wires are not...
Could also go with a Torsen limited slip, since it's a bit more refined than the old school detroit-style ratcheting lockers. A bit more expensive but still easier and cheaper than a full 4x4 build.
