    Random surging while driving

Yes! I ended up getting a pack of these from McMaster. They categorized it as 5/16-3/8" but its stamped 8mm-9.5mm and it seems to work perfectly. It just surprised me that local auto stores dont carry anything this small, Maybe because fuel hose for 1/4" ID is thicker walled and these wouldnt fit?

    Random surging while driving

I received all my fittings and hose but when I went to setup the new lift pump, i found that the 1/4 NPT elbow I got for it doesnt fit. I believe the thread is 5/8-18, however, I need to figure out how to get it to seal. The bottom of the lift pump fitting is what appears to be a 45 degree flare...

    Random surging while driving

Hey! Linking McMaster carr is usually MY line! It is funny that fuel injection clamps for 3/8"OD hose doesnt seem to be available at auto parts stores. I ended up getting the following McMaster part#s delivered on Saturday; 53175K82 - 5/16-3/8 fuel injection hose clamps. 6519T13 and 6519T14...

    Random surging while driving

Well shoot maybe ill hang onto my old old pump. I would really like to upgrade to an electric pump but the way I want to do it for my current truck is fairly expensive and time consuming, just to retain the functionality of the mechanical pump with minimal QOL benefits. Side note, trying to...

    Random surging while driving

Ya know, I wonder if I have my old OEM mechanical pump from my last truck. I am a sort of pack rat when it comes to this stuff, I will see if I can track it down.

    Random surging while driving

Yeah although alot of this *new* stuff was put on during overhaul in 2014 but then the truck only gained 13k miles since then. It was a quarry repair truck and didnt see much road use. Might be interesting to cut open an older pump and a newer pump and see what the internals look like and if...

    Random surging while driving

Awesome pointers as usual. My local parts store had a lift pump in stock so I picked that up since I have no idea how old mine is. Next step is going to be replacing that, then replace all the return lines since I have no idea how old those are. I did replace the O-rings in the caps when I first...

    Random surging while driving

Well I started looking into this issue this weekend a bit (with what little time I had). Lift pump is on order so figured id once over the whole system. The fuel lines from tanks to FSV are brand new stainless, still with labels on them and the FSV looks relatively new, not an OEM unit, its...

    Random surging while driving

Thanks for the info folks! The truck had been overhauled back in 2014, wheel bearings, transmission service, new torque converter, I believe a new IP (log says "fuel pump"), and only has ~15k on it after that work. I also put a new fuel filter on it at my last oil change earlier this year...

    Random surging while driving

Mornin' folks. Just had an issue come up with 94: While driving the truck will surge a little bit, acting like I suddenly hammered the throttle down. Usually lasts a handful of seconds and then goes back to it's normal sluggish self. Seems to happen once the truck is warmed up a bit, as in, it...

Shouldnt the frame straighten itself out once its bolted into the truck? Or is the truck also tweaked?

    Summit Racing/UPS

I worked for UPS for a while after highschool. Its definitely a difficult job and the Union to management culture is...different than other jobs I have held, but they definitely get stuff done. They invest alot into maximizing efficiency and keeping everything locked down tight, tracked...

    1955 f350 cat build

Are you stuck on a cat engine? I have heard of people swapping in DT466 engines into the early 90s F-Superduty trucks. Should come in around 45". I am not an expert on them but ive looked into putting one into my superduty. I think they were mechanical up into the mid-late 90s. Considerable...

    Driveline Center Support Bearing replacement

Ahh nevermind, Rockauto has about 30 of them for less than 40$. Not going to get an industrial bearing for anywhere near that price.

    Driveline Center Support Bearing replacement

Anyone know the shaft diameter and housing ID for the bearing? Curious if there is a match in industrial bearings that are sealed and with grease fittings.

Blue Smoke at cold idle, White smoke after descent/climb (air intrusion)

I feel like its easier to get to the #4 injector on the trucks as well. #1 is a tight fit with everything going on around it.

Blue Smoke at cold idle, White smoke after descent/climb (air intrusion)

I didnt know that! Whats the reason for timing on Cylinder 4 vs 1? Is the pickup mark on the balancer just in a different location on those engines?

Blue Smoke at cold idle, White smoke after descent/climb (air intrusion)

You should be able to access the lower injector lines with an offset 5/8" open ended wrench or a crows foot wrench or something like that.

Blue Smoke at cold idle, White smoke after descent/climb (air intrusion)

Looks like you got everything you need. Clamp at top left is the clamp that locks onto your #1 injector line. Wire to the bottom left connects that clamp to the meter (Spade terminal goes on the clamp). Wire to the right is the magnetic pickup probe. that goes in one of the holes on the...

    Water Methanol?

That was a long post and I apologize, my engineering mind is going down a rabbit hole getting back into thinking of a methanol injection system. This is exactly what I was planning on doing some 2-3 years ago before I sold my old truck and got this new one. I attached an image of what I was...

    Water Methanol?

A low pressure check valve immediately above the sprayer in the intake hat would ensure that the fluid in the line wont leak down after shutting the truck off. Also - might want to get a sprayer with a filter in it to ensure you dont spray gunk and debris in from the washer tank, similar to the...

Blue Smoke at cold idle, White smoke after descent/climb (air intrusion)

Yeah I bet you will see a good bit of improvement and realization once you get the timing meter. My superduty was down around 4.1ish when I got it and advancing it to 8.5+ required quite a bit of movement, easily several dimes widths. I dont know how exact it is but it seemed as though 1 degree...
