So what did you do with your truck today?

She could use a little more steam. I’ve never done any tuning at all. It’s always been get it running. Need to do some poking over the winter. Play with the timing a bit. Try retarding it. Need to see if I can find what to me sounds like an exhaust leak that has developed. I sure hope that’s...

So what did you do with your truck today?

Wife got a chunk of something in a tire so had to push her into daily service for a few days until a tire comes in.

    Windshield replacement myself?

Safelite policy according to the guy that did mine is no more than 22 lineal inches of rust. Mine had a few places. Of course I’m also pretty sure that my windshield is leaking. Need to take the time to properly check it and take it in for them to fix it. Supposed to be a lifetime warranty on...

    Bricknose wiper parking problem

I wouldn’t go quite that far. It’s been cleaned up but it’s no showpiece that’s for sure. LOL The module is right behind the wiper switch. It’s easy to see with the front off the dash. Not easy to actually get to. The module literally goes in line with the standard plug. So you pull the plug...

    Bricknose wiper parking problem

Could it not be the module under the dash for the intermittent wipers? If you have a regular non intermittent wiper switch, you just unplug the module from the middle of the chain. Mine was bad and they seem to be unobtainium so I just went to manual. Don’t drive it in the rain much anyway. LOL

Lift pump pressure and injection pump timing

X2 I think you run Holley reds. Are you regulating them?

    1975 f250 6.9 rebuild

Cool truck man! I love it. I love that combo. For what it’s worth, if you aren’t building a monster, idit rods (and pistons because they are different wrt wrist pin size right guys?) will be more than adequate. Unless you really just want to spend the money on it. Lower end is usually not the...

Lift pump pressure and injection pump timing

There’s been quite a bit of discussion around this. Here is a pretty good starting point. https://www.oilburners.net/threads/official-test-results-of-fuel-inlet-presure-timing.34636/page-1 The punch line is Mel says you loose about 1/4 degree off the advance curve for every psi over stock...

So question Wes. Do you run a regulator with that Holley red? At 7 psi seems unnecessary.

Keep an eye on this section. There is typically a couple west coast get togethers as well. We have several folks from that area.

    2020 Oilburners Rally Location Voting

The vote option doesn’t show up in Tapatalk (at least for me). Have to go through a browser and log in. Not sure if that is confounding folks or not or if there’s anything to be done about it.

    Electrical Gremlins...

For us Tapatalk users, what year is your truck? There were pretty significant wiring changes in 92. I would do a couple things. Check the grounding of your starter relay. It grounds through the base. I believe there should be a ground to the fender but it may be missing. Your issues may or...

    Yes, another timing thread..

How old are the injectors? Leaky injectors can cause smoke. I am in sorta the same boat. I have my timing set to around 9 but I really don’t have any excessive smoke unless I try which I try not to. I feel like I probably need to back it off a bit.

    Charging Issue

Damn. Didn’t realize you’re brackets were powder coated. Congrats on figuring it out. Hopefully you’ll have years of trouble free service.

    Charging Issue

Got to be something silly we are overlooking. How long did you let it run before you checked it? My truck needs to run up to a couple minutes before the volt gauge climbs back up. You have to refill the electrons before the voltage comes up. Fundamentally this is the ford version of the 1 wire...

    Should I grab this intercooler?

I’d probably pass. It’s going to be tough to plumb that. New can be had for not a lot more than that. https://www.cxracing.com/IC0022

    Charging Issue

Here’s what I’ve got. Here’s the plug into the Alt. Yellow on charge lug. White plugged in. Green/red (next picture) spliced into the fuel shutoff circuit. Charge wire to fuse, fuse to hot post on starter relay. Same alternator with M8 top bolt. Here’s my GP relay. You can tap...

    Charging Issue

That makes no sense. Did you try grounding the case with a jumper cable or similar? It really should be that easy. If that doesn’t work, jump the green wire to the battery directly. When you check the voltage, measure it at the lug on the alt and at the fuse as well as the starter relay. You...

    Charging Issue

I bet that’s the issue. I don’t know if that green wire has key on power or not. To test it jump your green wire on the pig tail to the battery hot. I bet you get power. Good places to get key on power are the IP shutoff solenoid or your fuel heater if you’ve deleted it. The GP controller is...
