Did Saginaw end with the body change? Cause my ‘92 has serpentine and no Saginaw pump.

    Road-side repair set

@Jesus Freak I’m practicing the noose right now!! JK I’m no knot expert, but the bowline can take some heavy loads and still untie easily, that’s why I like it. The truckers hitch is classic too, love that knot for load tying.

I also carry Triple-A and a few blocks of wood, a tow strap, and a receiver insert that has a shackle. Plus some rope. And know how to tie a bowline knot with a backup.

Strange finds in valve cover and glow plug hole

Regarding the 6.2/6.5’s I’ve heard of hacks just bending the injection lines to get to the valve covers. Or just revving the engine until it spit or embedded the GP tip. I’m sure the 7.3 in my van is much quieter in every way than the 24v in my ‘02. I miss the ALH sound of my TDI’s, my BHW...

Strange finds in valve cover and glow plug hole

Reading the earlier pages about screamin’ Jimmy’s had me going down memory lane. My dad drove scraper building I-90 in SD in the early 60’s. Straight from him.... “Euclid S-34, 12-71, muffle broke off. When Detroit 2 cycle blower started to scream, it did produce horsepower that was...

    She swallowed a glow plug

I have some GP’s (all steel) for 2005 Passat TDI. But I believe they are 5v and would not cross over. I’ll grab a measurement as well.

Dumb things you have done truck wise!

The first bolt I ever touched on an engine I over torqued and twisted the head off. I was 14, it was a fuel pump bolt on my sbc engine that was a Christmas present for my $500 1984 C10. My dad came unglued!! I was able to get it out on my own. Learned a lesson that day!! That pickup rusted out...

    1989 7.3 IDI - hard starting & hitting a brick wall

I’m stuck on your 9.66v test when Agnem states it should be 6v, and if over....bad connections or failing GP’s They all test .2-.3 ohms when cold, and all “test” light up, but could they be failing when hot? Does the controller “click” at all? How many miles on the pickup? Have you ever done a...

I just completed a Christmas Puzzle earlier. Adding “another brick in the wall” JB will cure that missing piece right up!! Oh, Rolex is calling :rotflmao

Here were my ALH’s I miss them! The NB is motoring around locally and the Wagon now lives in Moab. I should have kept the wagon, but my B5.5 Passat Wagon sure is a nice car. I go back and forth daily :frustrate

Bad move!!! I sold a 2003 ALH Jetta Wagon 5-spd. It was a stupid move on my part. Although I love the B5.5 wagon.

Look up BURPOD on TDIclub. He does custom tunes cheaper than anyone. You will NOT be disappointed. His level of service is next to none.

Can the return system “push” returned fuel up that high? Instead of, “Dual antennas whippin’ in the wind” it’ll be dual return line swaying in the wind.... :rotflmao

You can also get an immobilizer delete. I guess it’s pretty common for them to fail. My ‘02 NB suffered from it and I’d have to cycle the key until it was recognized. And I had the 3 original keys (2-fobs, 1-valet)

Our beloved FL1995 oil filter is no longer cheap at Walmart

Makes sense, my old beater (sbc gas) used enough it always looked like maple syrup (the dark amber) And yes, go back, buy them all, take a photo of the tag on the shelf. And if they ring up north of $26. Show them the photo you just took and have them manually override the price!!

Do you just change the filter every 5k and keep the oil full? I like this “constant changing” of oil. I had a sbc that used around that much. I just kept the oil full. Daily morning ritual just like coffee :rotflmao

But just cause we drive relics doesn’t mean we have to completely suffer!! You now have a van that will happily run 75 down the interstate or 65 down the highway...
