Another possible intermittent loss of lockup can be a dirty or bad solenoid valve connector.
I thought mine was bad but it was just dirty. Was on a 900 mile drive and about 150 miles from home it started briefly unlocking at steady highway speeds. Figured I had a bad connector but it turned out...
Check the fluid. See if it smells burnt. Also how off color is it? After it's warmed up check the fluid level.
See how it shifts on your test drive after it warms up. Mine smooths out a good bit when warm vs cold.
How heavy is your slip tank?
If it's heavy make sure there is a good...
Man I appreciate the links, but those are all for converting using the older 92-97 F-Superduty systems.
Sadly the parts for them, such as the reservoir, are discontinued and seem to be all sold off.
I'm hoping to get info on using the 99+ superduty hydroboost systems like my 06' F250 had...
Man I've been here long enough to search for stuff so if I missed something here feel free to point me in the right direction.
I've finally decided to start collecting parts for a hydroboost conversion. Seems my vacuum system only works when it's warm out, maybe. Tired of guessing whether or...
The water trick never worked for me. I had the same issue. It was a worn IP.
The reason it will restart right away but not after it's sat for 10 minutes is that the IP heat soaks more after you shut the truck off than when running due to the fuel not flowing through it anymore. Once it's been...
These engines have some blowby. Mine always has. At 275K now. Runs great and hardly uses oil as in I don't have to top off between 5k mile oil changes. Could be it needs a new CDR valve. Minor issue if that's the case.
I wouldn't worry about the coolant so much. The biggest issues on the 7.3's...
Will it crank if you jump over the solenoid contacts with a screwdriver or wrench?
If so and as you say solenoid clicks when you try to crank it replace the solenoid. It not check your grounds and power wire to the starter.
I'm literally right off I-81 at exit 150 (Roanoke area)in Virginia. I was planning on driving down Sunday or at least that's what my reservations are for. I could be persuaded to go Saturday or if there's a definite group going Sunday join up as you pass through.
Okay I'm booked.
No camper this year for me. Farm, while essentially sold, hasn't produced any funds yet. So tent camping it is.
I'd considered getting one of their tents or a camper but the camper space was at the very north end of the campground and didn't want to be that far up.
Their tents...
Count me in for one of these too.
I was going to make my own but if you've already got one available or nearly so, I'll just get it from you.
Awesome.
And FYI Flying back to Austin Friday. May be able to get some time Sunday afternoon to drop by. You going to be around?
Been a little while and I've not done a whole lot of work on the truck but I have been working on interior trim a little.
After fixing the broken pieces I decided all the interior plastic needed to be refinished.
I looked around at different products, read reviews, and looked at colors to try...
I'll add my .02 here. I bought my 93' in 07' with a Ford reman E4OD already in it. When it was installed I have no clue.
The first 2 years I had it I put 40k miles on it, often pulling heavy. I pulled a 14k trailer (21k gross) from Houston to Lynchburg Va. Also pulled the same 24ft gooseneck...
It"s about a year too soon for me. Still trying to sell my farm after which I will buy some land to put a large shop on. Then, and only then could I consider another truck.
And it'll probably be a 05-07' 6.0 if I do. I really miss my 06'.
I fly back in Monday and am there till?? If I can squeeze the time next weekend I'll come down. Or I may be back in Virginia by then. Situation is kind of fluid at the moment.
Thanks Heath. I really did enjoy meeting you guys at the rally last year. I'm planning on being there again this year.
As far as the turbo goes I'm all over the place. Part of me wants to do custom stainless manifolds with duals. Another part of me says just call Mel. Yet another part of me is...
The tint on my rear window was so homogonized with the glass I had to use a razor scraper to remove it. It came off well if I got under it. If not it was messy.
I engineer and program control systems for conveyors and packaging equipment.
Thanks for the invite. If I can squeeze out some free time I'll be sure to drop by. I'm currently working out near the COTA complex.
Sorry about the lack of updates but I've been traveling with work lately. Going to be in and out of Austin TX a lot the next couple months so progress will be slow.
