What temps are you seeing, and under what conditions. How much timing, and what injection pump?
I have a 6.9 pump on my 7.3, and even with the pump cranked, it is pretty mild
What part number is that u joint? Doesnt look like any spicer joint I have seen.
Are the caps bigger where they bolt into the trans yoke vs the driveshat ears?
Do you have the stock stuff to remove that lift? As far as clean low mile trucks go, big lift is a negative.
As far as pricing, have seen a few very clean 100kish, 100% bone stock crew cabs go in the 20 to 22k range. And these trucks were very nearly like new in every way.
Remembered a couple more I had experience with. 91 2wd half ton suburban with a 273 geared 12 bolt somebody put in it. Was probably the nicest highway cruiser I have ever had. 700r4 with low first gear made it work just fine. Tires were 235 75 15. Had no issues holding overdrive and would get...
Most repeat failures that I have seen when u bolts are involved is overtightening.
Is this 1330 series, and if so, ford almost always uses the big cap 1330 in positions with a u bolt yoke.
Had a friend that drove a chevy pickup , 3.73 with 35s and a 465 trans. Was a stock 350. Always seemed to work ok. Could still take off in second fine.
If it is clean enough to do a minor filtering and run through the injection system, why not do the same minor filtering and put itback in the crank case?
Heavy high speed towing, 75/140 syn
Extreme cold, like consistent negative temps, 75/90syn
Regular all around use, regular 80/90w is just fine.
No downside to the synthetics other than cost.
Add an inline fuse to that cold advance switch while it is easy. Have seen soo many of those short out, takes out fuse links, same ones that power a few things, including fuel shut of sol.
Have zero experience with the 80024. Just looked them up, they dont look to have the duratherm element like the 80034. I would be very careful with those plugs.
The way I have been doing it is, functioning 7.3 style controller gets beru plugs from known source. I have seen a few bad plugs over the last couple years.
Everything with manual glow plug control gets 80034 bosch plugs. Have yet to see a burnt out one.
I have tried the grid heater (used from 12v cummins). Maybe in a warm climate with a easy starting engine, but on the couple I tried it on, any temperature that would require glow pkugs normally, would not start on the heater alone.
Have also tried the ether systems, never could get the amount...
This would be interesting for sure, but only part of the equation. I have seen certain plugs that tend to burn out from engine running somehow. Have also seen plugs that erode or melt relatively quickly from alternative fuels. A very popular plug used in gm idi diesels, the 60g, would, in my...
Have been doing many oil coolers on the idi pickups as well as 7.3 powertroke trucks lately. The last several I used permatex tune up dielectric grease on the o rings for lube. I have used many different things over the years, but for what ever reason this stuff is by far the best I have used...
