So what did you do with your truck today?

Noticed the coolant reservoir was low couple days ago and have taken a couple days to view and monitor things with the engine cold. Tightened up rad hose clamps throughout but think the leak may be coming from the water pump. Still not positive but hopefully getting the issue narrowed down

    Clutch Pedal Sticking

@Sergey I'm only familiar with the bricknose clutch assembly but believe they are comparable to the bullnose. This video below may be worth checking out. Least on the bricknose there are multiple internal bushings on the clutch that can wear through and start wallowing out the aluminum bracket...

    Russ Repair new owners?

Oh thanks never realized that. Didn't want to come across as a shill Yeah that's him and just saw you snagged a set! Looks like the deering diesel website stocks a similar product, they the same guy? The ebay store seems to be doing a fair amount of business so makes sense there'd be some...

    Russ Repair new owners?

Have seen some of the postings about the CNC'd caps on here and they look great, think the PetersonCNC ebay seller is the guy you mention but am unable to find a username with the name on the forum here. Not sure if it's Deering or not and no affiliation myself but here's a link to the ebay...

6.9 no start below 60 degrees or so

Yes. Running the block heater in this instance is to validate/narrow down an issue with the glow plug (GP) system. If still no start with a functional block heater the issue is likely not GP related. This is standard trouble shooting protocol for no-start-when-cold conditions as, in theory, it...

    Need Quick Help Fender Relay?

I don't have the OE motorcraft # but from Napa it should contain ST404 like "MPE ST404SB" and according to rock auto theres an ACDelco part "F3914" which looks correct. Per Rock auto "OEM / Interchange Numbers: 12323161, 12336881, 19106724, F903, U939" but cannot confirm these firsthand. I...

Short burst of poor engine sound

New Maf seems to have resolved things so far. Really nice to have boost in the 2-3k range again

    Drum brake hold-down spring orientation

@franklin2 yeah I replace the hook every time with new because the old ones are missing ;) This is a poor design but seems to work well when it does.. using the shop diagram attached above I reaffixed new green springs keeping in mind the rotation of the wheel. At this point I strongly believe...

    Drum brake hold-down spring orientation

Last post on this: The thing that's most confusing to me about this is how the hardware kits come with 4x red springs and 2x green springs (my napa kit from above is the same). Just like this pic from a kit from rock auto

    Drum brake hold-down spring orientation

Here’s a picture of the part kit I have. The red springs here are the ones that popped off last time. Thought I was diligent about replacing things in the same orientation across brake jobs but things likely drifted a bit. The red and green springs are mirror versions of each other to be explicit

    Drum brake hold-down spring orientation

I've been having intermittent but persistent issues with the hold down springs popping off on the passenger side of an 88 f250. The part kit i have (napa) has both red and green hold down springs. I thought usually red colored parts mean "right" and have used two red springs on the passenger...

So what did you do with your truck today?

Um. The passenger rear brake keeper springs have popped off again. Yesterday noticed a slightly soft pedal and some scraping while rolling at low speeds. Waiting on tdi parts to arrive to handle some check engine stuff. It's not often both vehicles are having concurrent issues. This is the 3rd...

Short burst of poor engine sound

Replaced air filter and cleaned MAF and same codes persist. Spent half of yesterday getting a windows xp virtual machine and vcds working on a new m4 laptop. The old one used before for vcds batteri died. No reason to think MAF is bad yet but at 199k maybe rational to just replace. I am able to...

Short burst of poor engine sound

Ended up getting a check engine with MAF and egr related codes (P0101, P0401) this morning haha. Was surprised it wasn’t glow plug related. Gonna start with cleaning MAF and replacing air filter. Engine performance has felt fine but mpgs have been slightly down past quarter tank I think.

Short burst of poor engine sound

Had a weird engine sound/noise event today driving 2002 tdi. Engine warmed, maybe 45* out, start driving up a mild hill and randomly the engine/exhaust sounded really poor for a couple seconds. A coughing sound almost like initially firing over on a cold start. Was maybe going 2300 rpms and...

So what did you do with your truck today?

Not driving the truck today but around San Diego celebrating the Gf’s birthday. Happened to pass the Gear Vendors (over/under drive!) shop on the freeway and was surprised but also cool to see their spot. I’m not familiar with socal at all but they outside of SD in El Cajon. Of course excited...

    Clutch Pedal Sticking

I purchased and installed a used eBay brake/clutch pedal ass’y in my ‘88 last year and would recommend it. The main aluminum housing was cracked through so bit different than your problems, maybe you could just replace the problem components? Good Luck lots of help here
