4WD IDI C6 are hard to find?
Nope. Ford used the international diesel with a odd international bell pattern. So they designed a adapter to change the international bellhousing pattern to something else. You would think since they had a blank sheet of paper, they would have made the adapter to fit the 460 bell pattern...- franklin2

Single vs double V-belt on 3G alternator upgrade - can someone clarify this for me?
It's the simple fact that a single v-belt, will not transfer enough horsepower to run a 130 amp alternator at full output. But luckily most people do not need the full 130amp output. Nothing wrong with stock is it? You can turn the pump up yourself a little bit if you want, it's not hard to do. Your engine will last a long long time near stock.- franklin2

Buy the expensive one if they have a choice. They skimp on the material now on the contacts, and some brands do not tend to last very long. Also be careful tightening the large connections. Have you ever ran waste oil in your truck? If not, and you can get your pump rebuilt and returned, that would be the best way to go. Sounds like the rebuilders are getting more and more pumps that have been running waste oil and are wore out inside. I would not want one of those pumps.- franklin2

If you watch your dash voltmeter, when you press the glowplug manual button, the voltage should drop way down. Mine drops to about 8v. All I know is, I asked a guy that does industrial and tractor pumps if he would rebuild mine, he said no. He said something about the on-road pumps have more stuff going on inside and he doesn't mess with them.- franklin2

You still have the TTB frontend? I would not try to lift that frontend without the pivot brackets. All you have to do is park the truck on level ground, and then get a jack and jack the frontend up 2 inches by the crossmember or frame(kind of hard to do I know). If you are not stock and fabricating something different than the factory had, you will have to engineer it yourself. You are thinking correctly, you want it to hit the rubber bumper before it contacts metal to metal anywhere else.- franklin2

Is it a problem to have the positive and negative cables run side by side with no air gap?
Yes, the solenoid coil definitely uses some power. That is why your starter switch or starter section of the factory ignition switch has some hefty contacts.
