6.9 idi not running at high rpm

If you have a regular pressure gauge sitting around, you could rig it in there like I usually do on the fuel injection systems when I test them. 1. Find the schrader valve(looks like tire valve) sticking out at the top of the fuel filter housing. Get a tire valve tool and unscrew the guts out...

4WD IDI C6 are hard to find?

Nope. Ford used the international diesel with a odd international bell pattern. So they designed a adapter to change the international bellhousing pattern to something else. You would think since they had a blank sheet of paper, they would have made the adapter to fit the 460 bell pattern...

6.9 idi not running at high rpm

Check the fuel pressure would be the first thing I would do. Harbor freight has a tester for $30.00 https://www.harborfreight.com/fuel-injection-pump-tester-58760.html

    Injection pump rebuild

The one time I have messed with this, a guy I worked with had a stock 94 idi and had the pump rebuilt. He said the rebuilder told him he had "turned it up". When he was pulling his boat over the mountain it would start blowing a lot of black smoke. I found a article a guy had written on the...

Single vs double V-belt on 3G alternator upgrade - can someone clarify this for me?

It's the simple fact that a single v-belt, will not transfer enough horsepower to run a 130 amp alternator at full output. But luckily most people do not need the full 130amp output. And the few times they do, the belt will squeal some. You can consider it just "talking to you" letting you...

    Injection pump rebuild

Nothing wrong with stock is it? You can turn the pump up yourself a little bit if you want, it's not hard to do. Your engine will last a long long time near stock.

Any problem like this can always be whittled down to money and greed. On one side or the other or both sides.

Are you sure that is the problem? They are not known to fail that often. How is your vacuum supply?

7.3 idi hard to start unless use starting fluid or block heater

Buy the expensive one if they have a choice. They skimp on the material now on the contacts, and some brands do not tend to last very long. Also be careful tightening the large connections. You want them tight, but too tight and you could break what holds the stud and then it will give you...

    Injection pump rebuild

Have you ever ran waste oil in your truck? If not, and you can get your pump rebuilt and returned, that would be the best way to go. Sounds like the rebuilders are getting more and more pumps that have been running waste oil and are wore out inside. I would not want one of those pumps.

    IDI E Fuel pump Info

The vacuum/boost connection is a pressure reference point. it adjusts the pressure according to boost. Should you run that on the turbocharged diesel, I do not know. For example, if you set the above regulator to feed a carb that is downstream of a turbo, and the carb requires 5psi, you set...

7.3 idi hard to start unless use starting fluid or block heater

One of those large terminals on the relay should have voltage at all times. It's hooked directly to the battery via two yellow wires originally. Sometimes people redo this. The two yellow wires run across the valve cover and hit that suspect connector if it's still original. Check that...

7.3 idi hard to start unless use starting fluid or block heater

If you watch your dash voltmeter, when you press the glowplug manual button, the voltage should drop way down. Mine drops to about 8v. When it does that I know the glowplugs are drawing a lot of power and are working. There is a spot that can go bad and cause problems. Near the pass side...

    Injection pump rebuild

All I know is, I asked a guy that does industrial and tractor pumps if he would rebuild mine, he said no. He said something about the on-road pumps have more stuff going on inside and he doesn't mess with them.

    Cheap Ebay lift

Each truck is a little different, and different people have different requirements for their trucks. In my experience, 1.5 inches is borderline all you can go with the most extreme eccentric in the upper balljoints. I don't think you can get it back in alignment at 2 inches. But they will...

You still have the TTB frontend? I would not try to lift that frontend without the pivot brackets. All you have to do is park the truck on level ground, and then get a jack and jack the frontend up 2 inches by the crossmember or frame(kind of hard to do I know). Then stand back and look at...

    Rear Axle Spacer/Stopper Placement

If you are not stock and fabricating something different than the factory had, you will have to engineer it yourself. You are thinking correctly, you want it to hit the rubber bumper before it contacts metal to metal anywhere else.

Got a strange problem with my starter

When you take it out, look at the face of the starter where it mounts, and also the surface on the adapter/bellhousing where the starter mounts. I worked on a old plow truck that always cranked slow, even with a new starter, batteries and wires. Found out eventually that the surface where the...

Is it a problem to have the positive and negative cables run side by side with no air gap?

Yes, the solenoid coil definitely uses some power. That is why your starter switch or starter section of the factory ignition switch has some hefty contacts. Off the top of my head I would guess around 10 amps. And then you have the kick back voltage from the solenoid coil when you take the...
