    89 7.3 IDI sluggish

If its been sitting that much, you could have algae in the system, clogging filters pretty much instantly. These trucks do have what is called a shower head in the tank that is known to disintegrate over time and the pieces clog up the fuel lines. It has happened to me and I had very similar...

6.9 idi injector return cap leaks

Try vaseline. that has seemed to work the best for me. Also I haven't seen it mentioned yet, and maybe you are already doing this, but just in case. put the top oring on first then GENTLY roll the bottom one over it into the bottom groove. This can help prevent them from getting nicked.

Help with 6.9 Diesel, trying to find a mechanic in the Sacramento area is like pulling teeth no one wants to work on it

cant help you with a mechanic in that area. @IDIoit is maybe somewhat close and is very good at building and fixing these trucks. If you describe your issues we are pretty good on this forum at figuring out the cause and the best way to fix it.

Transmission upgrade on my 83 4x4

That is not a typo. He means a little computer to control the transmission. If you truck did not come with the E4od you need to either get a factory controller or there is at least one after market one, not sure if there are more. But it needs that to take the inputs from rpms, throttle input...

So what did you do with your truck today?

I bought and installed that raptor pump. Only been on the truck for about 2 months. In that time it has been great. Just be warned it uses ORB threads and two different sizes for the inlet and outlet. One side is 9/16-18 ORB and the other is 3/4-16 ORB. One of them comes with the pump. I...

So what did you do with your truck today?

old appliances are 100 times more reliable than the new ones. Plus you can actually fix them. the new ones 8 out of 10 times it is the mother board that goes out and it costs more to replace the board than just buying a whole new machine.

    Add-on overdrive options for a '90 F250 2wd 7.3 idi with ZF5?

Unless someone swapped in the gears these trucks did not come with 3.73 or 3.93 gears. Only 4.10 or 3.55. What size tires are you running? that has an affect on the rpms you see.

So what did you do with your truck today?

It really amazes me sometimes what people are asking for absolute junk and then you see it still listed months later. Like you could have sold it in a week if you weren't greedy and would actually take what it is worth. Seats seem to be among the worst offenders here. There will be a pristine...

So what did you do with your truck today?

I have been keeping an eye for newer seats because my old bench seat is so broken down you sit on the metal frame. I would really like to switch to bucket seats, but so far all the newer seats around me, people want $1000+ for and they need work. I will be watching to see how it all works out...

    6.9 IDI running like crap

pretty sure its best to call R&D and ask about a pump. Not all of them make it online and from what I hear you can be waiting quite a while for ones to come up for sale on the website. CDD and Moose diesel also sell quality pumps and are recommended by many people on here if you cant get one...

True. Those connections are not wet, but that is a good point. I wonder if they can be changed out just in case.

    1986 International 6.9idi

I was going to say the same thing as @FrozenMerc this is going to have to be custom built, but as he mentioned Vintage Air and other companies like that should be pretty helpful in putting it together.

    Surging has me stumped

The FSV is long gone. I only have the large single tank in the rear. Thats why this is so maddening. I wanted this to be a simple system with minimal places to have issues.

    Surging has me stumped

I run hotshots everyday diesel additive in every tank. Do you think the IP could still be sticking? Do you have a fuel cleaner you like? Is there anything else with the IP that could cause this issue? I really dont know much about them and if I should be looking at something with it as well as...

    Surging has me stumped

This issue has all the classic signs of air intrusion. But I cannot for the life of me figure out where it is coming from. I figured I would throw it out to the group to see if any sees something I am missing. Trucks starts up nice and easy. It will run fine for 3-5 mintues then it starts...

    turbo upgrades

CDD also sells a drop in upgraded turbo. Those are probably your two best bets for more boost and more whistle, but it comes at a price. If you don't already have head studs, you will want them with the upgraded turbos, and to properly spool them you will need enough fuel, which may mean an...

    IDI compression loss

If its that far apart already and the compression is that low, I would be getting the bores checked. If they come out good, throw new rings on the pistons. get the heads checked since they are out and go from there. Hot start issues can be the IP being worn out, but you need to get your...

    Great CDD experience

I too have only had good experiences with CDD. I do not spend any time on facebook, so no idea where the hate comes from, but all the products I have bought have been top notch and they answered every question everytime. I would definitely buy from them again.

    THIS is getting old!

mine had this problem on the back tank for awhile then it started happening on the front tank. it would idle fine, but anything above 1800rpms it would fall on its face and starve for fuel. Dropped both tanks and both showerheads were gone and the pickups were completely obstructed with the...
