    The yellow bilstein seem to work well over all. Agree on the 3.55 ratio being a little much with the tall od in the e4od. Depends how fast you pull though.....

    If it is still pushing air into the radiator with the piston at tdc....could add dye to the coolant, pressurize it until you are confident it has leaked into that cylinder, and then pull that head? Have never used dye with coolant, so I dont know how much it would help?

    From what I understood, Russ had some steel plates to use as a template. So, not nearly as sloppy as using the idi adapter to mark locations.

    Based on the couple that I have seen with cavitaion, the holes were below where the rings would sit with the piston all the way up.

    Like you said, probably have to build something. Sucks when you get to the point....time wise....that you start wondering if just pulling the head would have been quicker/easier.

    Re visiting this, just did the math for my possible double od setup, and it will run just under 1500 at 65, and hits 1800 by 80mph. With 355 With 410, 1800 at 65 2100 at 80. The 4.10 sounds way better, except the fact that when towing wont be in double od and will be at 2300 at 70....which...

    The rocking it back and forth is key. Also leave the injector where it feels loosest so that oil can seep easier.

    If it can still be run, fill those injector threads with atf and warm the engine up. Rock the injector back and forth. Have never had one I couldnt get out. Always a first time though....

    Swapping a 1995 engine, into a 1999 super duty

    I should know this, but cant remember if anything is different between the covers. Probably could use the dipstick tube thing fixed, and by the time the pan is off, its not to much work to swap the covers if you leave the hpop and fuel filter housing on it.

    If you swapped injectors around, and it stayed with that cylinder, I would pull that valve cover.

    Have not used any in maybe a year now, but were good then. Just have not been seeing as many idi ford and chevys for awhile now. The ones that I do see regularly have these plugs and are doing good. I still have not seen a burned out one.

    Drum brake hold-down spring orientation

    Have always just used the red springs. Have never even heard of this happening until this. Do you have the old brake shoes to compare that hole location to? Think I would be welding something to the hold down pin to make the spring go through a loop instead of just being hooked at the end...

    Got a strange problem with my starter

    Just for clarification, this is not a direct drive starter. If you look at one you will notice that the motor is offset from the drive. There are in fact gears in there for gear reduction. The direct drive starter was an old delco style starter. Looks very similar to a very big old sbc starter.

    timing surge

    Still drive that truck almost every day. Engine has had 1 valve cover gasket replaced in that time, other than that and fuel system stuff, and water pump, un touched. Burns much oil, takes a special sequence to get it to start cold, but other than that its like new....lol.
