Pretty much the default answer always involves the idit with its heavier wrist pins causing need for different imbalance, but neglect the .110" larger piston and rings affect on bob weight.

6.9 and 7.3 flywheels have different imbalance, though many have ran a 7.3 flywheel on a 6.9. When I did the z5 swap the 6.9 flywheel was spun on a balancer and then the 7.3 to match. I have also heard of pressure plates being off balance. If you pull the trans I would consider having the 7.3...
Replacing with a single joint may cause a vibration. The u joints in the double carden cancel each other eliptical path out since they are always at equal angles to each other. The single u joint on the stock shaft has no or little angle and does not need a mating u joint.
Problem with going...
If toe in is not set perfectly on these, it can change the camber at highway speeds. If you have toe in the tires will try to move closer to each other. Depending on the angle of the i beams it will force them up or down. This is the best tool I have found for setting toe on these.
Offset is set correctly
Two to watch for on these timers,
Sand the injection line bare for the piezo clamp and ground.
Pickup basically needs to rub, paper thin clearance.
The 62% thread engagement is not bad when considering target thread formation is around 75%. Also at 50% the threads, the bolt should fail before the threads.
