    Wheel balancer and now driveshafts

I have a bag filled with dynabeads and a set of centramatics leaning up against the wall. The beads and centramatic did help at speeds under 65, but neither compares with well balanced wheels.

    4500 rpms in your IDI???

6" stroke cummins spinning 2200 rpm comes to about 37 ft/s. Thats with 12lb monotherms pumping up and down not to mention some hefty rods. I sat and watched a large cummins governed out at 3000rpm (50ft/s) for minutes on end free reving in a blow up competition which it did not. It would be...

    4500 rpms in your IDI???

Had a stock 454 down to the quadrajet in a farm truck, when pulling 12 head of cattle would always bounce the tach up to 5000 grand going up a certain long hill. Probably would have wound it a bit more with a little more camshaft.

    Wheel balancer and now driveshafts

Just wired up the z axis on a $1.99 accelerometer from ebay to my volt meter. Attached a magnet to the accelerometer, then promptly attached it to the front pumpkin and then the closest bolt on the transfercase. It worked results are interesting the higher the voltage reading the more...

    Wheel balancer and now driveshafts

Thought I would share pics of my contraption I use to balance wheels on the vehicle. Similar to the old on car strobe balancers, but a lot less money tied up. Also just tried it on my front driveshaft and its the smoothest its been and that is after 3 driveshafts from two places. With hubs in...

    U joint yoke..Staps VS. U Bolts

The big switch to the straps was to prevent the caps from getting crushed and lengthen u-joint life under normal conditions. U bolts torque is only 15 ftlbs and I have only seen them on oversized caps. Straps I have messed with are used on standard caps. Gut feeling tells me something is...

    Random 4x4 question

Not exactly, it was about the cost and being closer matched in ratio did not make a difference. The mismatched ratios 3.92/3.89 3.54/3.50 3.54/3.55 are only due to dana making 3.54 ratio for the front and ford making either 3.55 for the rears ie 10.25 and 8.8 the 9inch was 3.50. Ford matched...

    Random 4x4 question

If you do not have lockers. Jack up both tires on one side. Place transfer case in 4wd lock in front hubs. If you have automatic hubs rotate rear wheel till front locks in. Mark both wheels in same spot, say 6'o clock. Rotate wheels by hand and marks should stay together. If not the case...

    Correct front spring part #

Got to remember when the ttb came out no one had independent front 4wd in a full size pickup. Chevy 3/4 tons with leaf springs did not offer much more clearance between the springs and the bumpers with a straight axle and rode like #$@!. The upward wheel travel is more then the 3/4" between...

    Gearvendors OD no reverse

British design I believe, used by a few European car makers. P unit was only used on the volvo in production. GV units were modified from the European versions. GV supposedly bought all the remaining rights of the laycock unit. Found a UK company

Since your are in germany I would start searching the web for laycock overdrive parts. found this no clutch listed but I would give them a call and ask.

That's what an overrunning clutch does, transmits power in one direction and freewheels in the other.

    Pitman Swap, Is this right?

Check the pitman nut torque after driving a week. The pitman seem to loosen up after driving a while and needs to be retorqued. I would repeat this till it is still tight when you check it.

Protech diesel in Glendive is a good source for washers, and orings, they might even have return caps. I think that would be only a day out for you.

BILLET ALUMINUM INJECTOR CAP PART 2

This keeps gnawing at the back of my head every time this thread surfaces of an easier/less expensive way to make metal caps. I assuming there is a 4th axis involved, and I have not been able to justify the purchase of one. They could be made in three pieces but the cap would need at least 1/4...
