    Water cooled exhaust

I could see this on larger engines, that can control the heat of the piston by cooling with large amounts of oil or the use of monotherm steel pistons that can handle heat. Now given the pistons can take higher heat, the turbo is going to need protection.

    Vehicle diary page.

Thought about the tech article, but there not always the specific part numbers you or me used. Be a nightmare if everyone added to the tech section of what they used. Other bad on a build thread, besides finding, is you really do not need comments on which part you used, just need to document it.

    Vehicle diary page.

Suggestion for site improvement. It would be handy if each user had a personal notes page to document vehicle specifics, same as the personal biography but for the vehicle. Notes that you do not want in your signature. Could be used for what part number hydroboost unit was installed, when I...

found the booster I used, did not show it on the pictures, but mine came with the pushrod. ac delco 14pb4343 Warning, results may vary. pump I used was atsco 7107 I know the years do not match. I swapped the pressure fitting and relief off my original pump and it worked like a charm...

    Hydroboost Conversion

Try your stock pedal with a stock master cylinder. You already have them, you may or may not like the feel and can be changed later. On my 84 I used the stock master cylinder and brake pedal. Strange thing is the brake pedal requires far less travel then the vacuum servo. I am guessing it...

So what did you do with your truck today?

I wound the living piss out of the 6.9 for 11 hours left at 5:00 am from eastern montana for the western side. Forced to down shift once I hit the mountains, the 30 mph head wind caused the egt to go way high in double O.D. Picked up a motorbike for the kid, ate at jimmy johns and headed back...

    Regearing or aux overdrive

Depending on rear end you may be limited to 4.11 or 4.30. Looks like the front has more option change. Give Inland in Billings a call to find out what gearing options you have. 1100 RPM Dash rattle

folded up pieces of paper stuck between trim and window makes a temporary fix for diagnosing.

    1100 RPM Dash rattle

Here's a real answer, even though timing will change the behavior of certain rattles, check the trim around the windshield. If loose it will vibrate against the glass.

    1100 RPM Dash rattle

Change the timing, this will cause the frequency of the engine to change, hence moving the rpm of the rattle.:sly

Hairbrained idea for cheap timing meter/onboard display

Not sure if this helps at all, but I use these piezo switches on my homegrown wheel balancer. May be able to copy its circuitry if strictly an on off input is more beneficial.

    Best Batteries?

I have had good luck with interstate, exide, diehard and many off brands, in vehicles that start well, with no drains and are driven regularly. I also have seen all those same brands see quick deaths in my vehicles that have had drains. Drains are hard on batteries. Right now I have group...

Hairbrained idea for cheap timing meter/onboard display

Be pretty neat to watch the timing while driving. The strip piezo would be pretty cool for price, but Tinytach has clamp on transducer that are not terribly priced.

What makes these engines so gutless?

Gas engines are not as rpm limited. Modern gas engine peak horsepower is higher then a idi governed rpm. This lets them get more air through the engine allowing them to burn more fuel. More air more fuel more HP. Yes torque is great for towing, but spin a engine and use the next lower gear...
