California ( and others ), RV's, and more laws...

Yes, although I have never experienced it, smog was a problem. Still is to a small extent. But, I feel like, after a while, maybe… after DPF, it’s gotten over the top. Possibly on the verge of scamminess… but that’s my speculation only. It’s up to interpretation mostly. And definitely a regional...

CO2 kills the environment? Hmm… and lowering our CO2 output is going to be a good thing? Oh wait, don’t trees effectively turn CO2 into oxygen? So… strangle the trees? That saves the environment? (in simplified terms) The whole emissions thing is a scam… but… a money making scam indeed… so…...

California ( and others ), RV's, and more laws...

So many such things are still optional in Kansas… and my guess is, they will be quite a bit longer than most other states.

I wouldn’t count on Trump to disband CARB or the EPA… after all, there is still money to be made there. But if anyone would lessen those agency’s power, he probably would. Just my speculation.

    Sudden loss of oil

Here’s a ridiculous suggestion. Put a service body on it in place of the factory bed. Fill it with tools and such. Watch the fuel gauge plummet and kiss your carboning up goodbye LOL

    Alt. Upgrades for 6.9/7.3?

That’s what I do. Yup. Mechanical 6 way valve. No electronics involved. Just turn the valve to draw fuel from the desired tank. Has an off position as well. Leave the stock FSV on the frame rail, without the fuel lines hooked up, and use the factory switch on the dash to switch which tank the...

    Alt. Upgrades for 6.9/7.3?

Sounds great. I can certainly appreciate upgrading an IDI, they are fantastic engines. That depends. If you’ve got one laying around, like I did, then absolutely. If you’d have to purchase it, then it probably depends on price. The brackets and pulleys are what would get expensive. As far as...

Power steering leak location? Which part should be replaced?

I have heard, not experienced, that the quality of the RedHead gearboxes has faltered since COVID. That would be worth looking into to confirm, as I’m not certain that it’s entirely true. By my understanding, Blue Top is just about the best option. I have driven a 2004 F350 (gas) with new tie...

Batteries read 12.7 but slow cranks

Another viable option is a Powermaster 9050, if the DB starters aren’t available

    ISO 4x4 E4OD

I do have a couple laying about, but I’m not super interested in parting with them. I could just rebuild a core E4OD, but I’m beginning to get different ideas…

    Squealing Noise Until Operating Temp

My fairly new 3G alternator was squeaking when I started my truck tonight, but it was probably getting wet because my water pump is leaking. And my power steering pump is trying to kill itself. I think I might just convert to serpentine… I have all the parts to do it… I might regret it but then...

    Work horse or pig

+1 on bending the throttle pedal lever The 87-94 pedal levers are pretty thin, and I think they do bend over time. I found that out after stumbling on a NOS Ford pedal assembly, and noticed that it sat up higher off the floor. Pretty easy to bend them back. Have done it to my 91 and my 94

Steel dowel pin welded to aluminum housing… I’d like to see that…LOLLOL That’s an idea. In fact, that’s such a good idea that I bet your Carol would like that so much, you should surprise her by doing that. It would be interesting to hear what she has to say about that… :joker:

    New age headlights

Both of the top two options seem viable, the second from the top may be too bright… being able to see at the cost of others vision won’t do you much good… and while these new vehicles lights can be abrasive on the eyes, the wrong bulbs in the wrong housings will be much worse… I’m definitely...

    FlowKooler pump and overall pressure?

Kinda funny, all my incidents I’ve had in vehicles have been really close to home… except for the front differential exploding, that happened about 70 miles from home. And most of them have been the consequences of me doing something stupid… at least I don’t do it where I could put others in...

    FlowKooler pump and overall pressure?

Well… I did something stupid. Actually multiple stupid things. It’s kind of a long story… About a year ago I blew up the front diff. Had it in 4WD on an ice covered highway. Well I got up to a roundabout that they had salted real good and forgot to take it out of 4WD. But while the pavement was...

    7.3idi Rebuild Cylinder Wear

I believe that the 89-02 engines are all in danger of this failure. 94-98 are most prone to it. 89-93 can have it happen but I have heard of more issues with the P pumped engines. 98.5-02 are least prone to it. In fact some of them have updated timing cases, which cannot fail in this way...
