    CDD injection line issues

Well I did some measuring just now, and the results are disappointing. I measured the lengths of the injection lines by pushing some 80lb test fishing line through the lines to get an accurate internal length. The new #1 line and the old #1 line were both the same length at 17.25 inches long...

    Finally gonna rebuild my ZF-5!

Glad you found it!!! +1 on the anaerobic sealer, I had the exact same experience. Never used it before I rebuilt my 1356, but now I find plenty of uses for it.

    Finally gonna rebuild my ZF-5!

Sorry I meant to add that I’m almost 100% sure that came out of the transfer case

    Finally gonna rebuild my ZF-5!

That looks to me like the one that holds the output shaft bearing in place. Hopefully so, because that would mean you only have to remove the tail housing and not split the whole case.

    CDD injection line issues

It has an o-ring seal on the bottom, pretty slick! Here’s the one I bought: https://a.co/d/4gYalOi

    CDD injection line issues

The air cleaner spacer fit perfectly and raised the airbox just enough to clear the lines. I was hoping that the lid bolt would still reach, but it’s too short so I’ll have to buy a longer one.

    Blend door

I’ve heard that piece is super brittle and will break if you touch it. I bet some creative JB weld usage would help make it stronger

    CDD injection line issues

As for the issue with the lines being too tall, I ordered a spacer for a carb air cleaner that should raise it up and clear the lines.

    CDD injection line issues

I sent a message about the timing adapter yesterday, so if I don’t hear back today I’ll call tomorrow. Since the lines are advertised for both 6.9 and 7.3 engines, and the 6.9s don’t have the adapter, I assumed they lengthened the #1 line to eliminate the need for the adapter. If all else fails...

    CDD injection line issues

Yeah I definitely think so. I was hoping the CDD ones would be different, but the line nuts are 17mm instead of 5/8 which tells me they’re probably the same as the $40 sets on Amazon. At least CDD has a 5 year warranty on theirs.

    Screwed up parts databases?

I think the 4x4 vans are called “Pathfinders”. I’ve always thought they were super cool, I didn’t realize that none of them came from the factory that way.

    CDD injection line issues

Also, I did not re-install the timing sensor adapter on the new #1 line. Since the line set said it would work on the 6.9 and the 7.3 I figured it wasn’t needed. There were no instructions on the website or in the box, so can anyone confirm that I did the right thing there? I’ll reach out to CDD...

    CDD injection line issues

I ran into a frustrating issue tonight and I wanted to see if anyone else has heard of it. My #1 injection hardline has been messed up and leaking for a while, so I bit the bullet and got a whole new set from Classic Diesel Designs. I was warned ahead that new lines aren’t bent accurately and...

    Screwed up parts databases?

Is one for a 4x4? That’s the only reason I can think they would be different.

    Wrong again

I just bought a GPS speedometer to retrofit into my truck. If all else fails you can always go that route!

    Finally gonna rebuild my ZF-5!

While you’ve got it apart, what diameter are the shims? I seem to remember hearing someone using shims from differential carrier bearings or pinion bearings, but I don’t remember which axle had the same sized shims as a zf-5

    New age headlights

I’ve been toying with the idea of making a DIY Aussie setup. You can buy the 5x7 buckets on Amazon for $60ish, and then I might cut apart a set of stock headlights to make it “fit”

Good replacement for Holley Black Pump?

I keep a cheap $10 Amazon pump in my toolbox. It came in handy one time helping somebody who was broke down on the side of the road.

The rear tank doesn’t like to take fuel

My fuel filling issues have been worse lately, and today I decided to check the rollover valve. I found out that the mud wasps/bees had plugged it completely. I thought I could just cut off the last few inches, but I kept finding bugs and dirt even 12” deep so I replaced the whole hose. I...

10.25 Sterling, How Bad is too Bad

I would run it. When I bought my truck I found glitter and a chipped pinion tooth in the rear end. I kept driving it while I looked on FB marketplace for a good price on a used rear end. I got a year out of it and probably could have gone longer, but I eventually found a cheap used rear axle and...

    Transfer Case Lube (1988)

I used mercon LV (not mercon V) in my 1356. They had it on the shelf at oreilly’s.

    Finally gonna rebuild my ZF-5!

1: I removed the trans and t-case together but installed them separately. Not too hard either way. 2: Are you at a dead stop when this happens? Are the bushings in your pedal assembly worn out? 3: You might think about rebuilding the 1356 while you have it out to do the trans. They’re simple...

6.9 IDI hard start and idle lope

My truck had a hard start and identical cold idle to yours, even after new pump and injectors. What solved it for me was deleting the connection between the fuel filter housing and the return lines. It was causing my fuel filter to fill with air, and then the loping idle was the IP trying to...

ZF5 Owners I need your help

I also just realized that from 1992 and up the Speedo reads off the rear axle, so you need someone with an 87-91 2wd ZF5 to check their tag.

ZF5 Owners I need your help

I checked but mine was blank, and I realized you need someone with a 2wd zf-5 since the 4wd ones have the Speedo gear in the transfer case. Do you happen to know the color of your old Speedo gear? They’re color coded I believe.
