Cool this all may be attempted down the road. As it stands I ordered a 50$ gps driven speedo that wraps around the steering column like a tach on non tach vehicles.
More than anything I'm kinda excited to have a usable first gear. 5.72:1 and 4.10 axles is useless when I'm towing I cant go fast...
If you pull the tailshaft everything else falls out its pressed into that side of the case. I only know from looking up that when I was seeing how much tailshafts were for it to replace my wide ratio S-47 that was in it.
Oh well, my speedo bounced a lot anyways gear was prob worn or something...
Well my state inspection doesnt need odometers if the truck is older than 25 years so that doesnt matter. I track my mileage in the fuelio app so I know what my odometer is at when I fill up.
I just need a universal speedo that's GPS driven. I really like the idea of first gear being 4.14 to 1...
So I got the trans from the guy on Facebook and now I'm worried I screwed up..
Its definitely for a 2wd and was on his diesel but I swear that build date says 95 so it would have been on a powerstroke.. does that work? I can't Google as I gotta drive home from the shop. Ughhh
My t19 in lenny in my sig started to get the old squealing throw out bearing. It usually only does it when it's cold but sometimes if it hits a good bump on the road it will do it in 4th going down the highway unless I tap the pedal.
My question is my pedal has tons of travel before it starts...
No your right that's all I'm doing. Paul the guy doing the clutch and flywheel for me has a trans jack I'm just doing the legwork getting another transmission. I have a trans jack too, I just didn't want anything to do with doing this job without a lift. If it was on my 4x4 I might have tried it...
Update, I've found someone on Facebook near me in apollo who is doing a 4x4 swap. He's agreed to sell it to me for 300$ [the 2wd one] and should have it pulled by the weekend. Shifted fine he said, about 150k on it mine had 136k so whatever there but more importantly all mounts are good.
A good...

So June 2017 I found a post from when I originally had noticed this issue starting.. you can see my attempt at a fix
Couldn't I just get someone to weld the smaller mounting bar that those two bolt holes used to mate with directly to that piece that sits on the cross member and bolts to it separately?
Unfortunately that's just sounding like I'm going to need another zf5. I don't know of anyone off hand who welds in my area.
Worst part is theres a nice tig welder in my garage. My grandfather welded his whole life. I don't even know how to turn it on.
And for the first time ever when I...
How would you weld something like that with so much material missing? I really wish I had that picture now, but theres just half the bolt hole gone. All I've ever done is harbor freight wire weld small things together so I have no idea how this works.
Also my throw out bearing was disintegrated...
It's those two red areas that are broken over 50% of the metal there is gone where the bolt would hold the trans tight to the crossmember.
I don't know why we can't get his phone to send me the picture at the moment, I'll get it up here when his service decides to actually send it.
So the guy who is working on the truck for me called me tonight and said the back mount for my transmission where two bolts hold it to the crossmember and 12 bolts I believe he said hold it to the actual trans is broke and the holes in the trans part are worn wide so I'm going to have to find...
This fixes 99% of fueling issues. 3/4" npt pipe fitting will shove nicely into the grommet the factory check ball breather goes into that doesn't let any air out. I jb welded around mine anyways after shoving it in there. Then just run fuel hose from the top of the fitting up a distance under...
I've always wanted to add those side handles like on @FrozenMerc truck above, but I wonder if there is anything different behind the outside of the truck to reinforce someone grabbing the handles where they mount..
Yeah exactly. I think you could sand and polish the factory lenses enough to make them clear through and through once you have them off. The corners would be the only trouble spot for sanding.
This isn't mine but I found a dude online who did what I was thinking just not with an led 5x7 from amazon and I don't think he put the lenses back on for some reason.
Yes, but take the lenses off the 5x7 entirely so you don't have two lenses, have that doner set of 5x7's already be LEDs so you get a perfect spread pattern like what I put in my 6.9 like these...
I'm.. 99% sure that we can take our lenses off, sand them so they are no longer "fluted" lenses [not straight clear like a window and have all the little squares on them], and put an old bullnose style headlight inside it so you can use whatever led you'd like from ebay.
I just need to take one...
No I havent tried it without the vacuum pump but I can force the squeak after the initial 10 second squeak goes away before the belt gets warm if I throw everything at the alternator electrically including two e fans I have in front of the ac condenser.
It's also on my 7.3 not the newer 6.9.
