    What do y’all think?

Found this on the marketplace. I’ve always been wanting to do an alternative fuel system, I’m a complete novice to the fundamentals. Does the price sound fair? Of course upon inspection. Any thoughts at all would be appreciated! https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/1022035392527553/

    Anything look weird?

I wanted to get an ISSPRO boost gauge but just don’t have the money right now so I opted for the glow shift. I’ve heard a couple guys say they’ve treated them well so I hope I fair the same. New water pump, fuel pump, IP, injectors, and a good interior detail job. When I actually pull it out...

Anyone happen to know the thread size for a banks sidewinder turbo “hat” plug? I want to install a boost gauge

    Trade trucks?

My dads daily for the last 15 years was this 61’ Falcon. Straight six. Baby never let him down. I mean, sometimes it had a dog day, but he’d get out on the side of the road with a flathead screwdriver and duck tape and get back home. But talk about reliability, she always drove the roads. It’s...

    Manual Glow Plug Switch Issues

That sucks man, sorry to hear about that. Were they easy to get out after burning up? I may be wrong but I believe with a properly wired manual push button you shouldn’t have the problem again. Even if the solenoid was stuck open your push button should break the circuit. So there’s a light at...

Unless there was double washers in there. All 8 injectors had washers on but I’ll be taking a better look. One of the benefits to waiting 4-6 weeks for parts is not being in any hurry! Could have been it appeared like they were still in there from the lighting/angle of my photo.

    Trade trucks?

@Brian VT It all works out different for everyone, hopefully you’ve at least had some interesting/fun moments with your old chug-a-lug. There was a time when ai considered selling my 86 idi and I’m glad I never did. I have a bond with that truck now like none other. It’s slow, it drools, it...

Out of all 8 injectors this one looked the worse. The rest didn’t have any cake on them at all. Some a little more wet than others but still clean. This one was passenger side, second from front of engine.

Project Thread: 89 F250 Franken Truck

I’m going to second oil samples. They’re cheap and interesting in my opinion. I’ve done several with Blackstone and they have always had great service. I was able to watch my results improve after I took out my bad water pump and installed a new one. I also watched the data change after I ran a...

    Anything look weird?

@Clb looks like what I had in mind. Been asking around to see what people have been doing to remove debris after cleaning and I’ve got some good info to run with. And @Isaac Ristow who else would you buy from?! Gotta be the tres amigos right?

    Anything look weird?

Yes sir. Those two injectors actually still had the washers on them. The injectors themself didn’t look too bad, no excessive carbon build up or gunk. One of them was a little more wet but I wouldn’t say it struck me as odd.

    Anything look weird?

So a few weeks ago I noticed fuel leaking out of my IP and filling the valley pan. I had been getting worse MPG for a while too so I decided it’s time to pull it and install a new one. Truck is my new-to-me 92 7.3 idi with Banks Sidewinder turbo. Has 161K miles and I believe it sat for a good...

Merry Christmas as well and a happy new year

    Thanks for the help.

Hearing the noises is one way you’ll be able to tell something is wrong. One day I was driving home from work and one of the bolts holding my vacuum pump walked it’s way out; the threads were basically gone. I was at a red light and heard a different noise coming from the engine bay. But once...

Russ hard line delete kit help

Lots of good stuff here. Been noticing my fuel mileage sucks Butt and when my coworker came in and said he walked by my truck in the morning and it smelled like a lot of diesel, I decided I should pull it in the shop and take a look at it. Turns out I had a pool of diesel at the base of the...

    New truck 1983 6.9 IDI

There are a few outfits out there that will sell a larger rear fuel tank. You’ll have to remove the spare tire holder and place your tire somewhere else but if you go that route you’ll have 57 gallons of fuel all under the bed. 38 gallons in the rear and 19 midship.

86 6.9 keep leaking out the left rear injector return

Make sure you liberally apply a lubricant to the o rings too. Like the super lube CD sells in the kit or just some petroleum jelly. Don’t be shy either.

    Resurrecting a $900 1986 with 7.3idi swap. Fuel?

I think this truck is starting to sound just minty and we need peg to come around and tell it how it is from up north. He gets anything going on a can of bill cosby juice

    Running rough, hard start

There was one time I put a fuel filter on too tight and it distorted the oring on the filter and I was having hard starts and air intrusion. Loosening the filter solved all my problems so just something simple to check. Sounds like you’ve done most everything though…

    Wally my new truck TLC

So just sitting here at work with my thumb up my butt and figured I’d post an update saying Wally is back on the road this week and driving great. Valve cover gaskets went in, new glow plugs and manual button are awesome, trans oil temp gauge is working which is cool. Anyone have opinions on...
