I just realized that if you add a big auxiliary cooler that holds an extra quart or whatever you should have a higher fluid capacity like the deep pan. Otherwise it seems you could cause another problem with insufficient fluid in the pan. Or.. Am I making it a bigger deal than it really is...
Nice!! Like 6.0 powerstroke trans cooler? Is it similar to the one that we were talking about in the link that was posted? Does it have a fan? I had a 6.0 and the transmission was 100% bulletproof I know this from experience working the hell out of it.
Did you need an extension or is stock tube length ok with the deep pan? I wanted to order the deep pan with the temp port and wasn’t sure if I really needed to do the mod for the longer intake filter thingy.
I still haven’t done anything with the timing. Time to make another little timing wrench again. I need to advance the timing a little bit from age I think and see if it improves at all. Any other thoughts /suggestions?
I ran around a little bit with the drippy oil tube in my left fender. Every time I stopped at a traffic light people would look at me like my engine was on fire.
I will replace the injection pump but I had a return line leak and wanted to get the injectors done. Also want to figure out what’s going on with this oil consumption first. I can’t save the money fast enough to do it when I’d like to.
How much can I access to check or replace parts that may be causing the oil leak by just removing the intake, pump, manifold and valve covers?

Yeah I tested the new one. I blew in the tiny hole on the front of the can and it compressed a little and blew the air back out the little hole. If it works, you can feel it blow air back out the hole. Truthfully I did the same test on the old dirty one and the little hole was blocked. It tasted...
I did the injectors and return lines. I also replaced the cdr very recently.
I still get blue smoke at takeoff from a stop if I don’t start off slowly and didn’t improve the rough running problem.
I’m really happy the low oil situation didn’t hurt the compression much. It’s got a little slump in its rumble. When it’s in D it bounces a little. In P it shakes less. At stop/start it feels like a tiniest load on the engine makes it shake like low power. Why do you think I would lose so much...
The old timer who had it from birth took it in for regular service and kept records. He kept it out of the weather and at 130k I’m not saying nothing happened, but I’d bet it wasn’t starting fluid.
130k miles. Clean truck. I’m losing a bunch of oil.. 4 quarts at 500 miles. So I had a compression test done. I’m wondering if this is enough loss to be concerned about? The truck rocks at idle so running kinda rough, could the compression issue I have cause it? All input is appreciated!
