I'm thinking 4.10 also, with 35" tires driving around town would put me at 1250 rpm and on the highway 2100 rpm. If I went with 3.55, in town would be 1100 rpm and highway 1800 rpm.
I'm not sure where the idea cruising rpm is but the in town driving is what concerns me at such a low rpm. I've...
Little about the truck, 95 f350 CrewCab 460 4x4 getting converted to a rebuilt idi factory turbo and wide ratio zf5-42 and bw1356.
I'm trying to figure out what axle ratio to run, both diffs are getting replaced and all gears are on hand just not sure what to pick, 3.55 or 3.73 or 4.10.
99% of...
That's was me, I took a psom from a 92 and newer truck and put it into a brick nose (87-91) truck and ran it off the rear axle sensor, not a hard swap and I'll try and do a write up in a week or two.
The spacer plate is there, after you remove the e4od, starter and flex plate you will be left with 2 bolts above the crank shaft, remove those and the plate can come off. Don't forget to remove the spacer on the crank shaft if you have the thin e4od flex plate.
On the 92-97 trucks there is a wire under the glove box area that you ground and when you turn the key on the cluster will let you put in a new number, it's been a while since I did this so I maybe missing a step. The formula for finding the new number can be found online and you figure out the...
I only used the speedo and the clear plastic from the 92-97 cluster and gas or diesel clusters work and the plug and as much wire I could get with it.
You have to trim the speedo and make a hole in the back of the cluster for the wiring. One of the lights matches perfectly with the light pipe...
A cheap option that you can do in your house is to swap the speedometer out for a 92 and up one and then wire the trans computer to the speedo like the newer trucks.
Wiring is easy, only 6 wires to hookup (7 if you include the programing wire) and it work with the e40d, cruise and is accurate...
The crossmember are not the same though, diesel and 460 are one, 300, 302, 351 have a giant hole where the diesel plate would go.
460/diesel
Other gasser
What engine is in the gasser? 460 to diesel is a easy bolt in swap, any other gasser you will have to make a plate for the drivers side engine mount as there is a big hole for the oil filter on those, passenger side is bolt on.
If both heater hoses are hot to the point you can't hold them your problem isn't with the cooling system, you more then likely have something wrong with the blend door, be it out of adjustment or something is blocking the door from closing completely and allowing cold air to bypass the heater...
It's the same sensor just changed names in 92, you do not need to change it. Through I do recommend to pull out yours and make sure the end is clean of any metal shavings or other junk.
88 will have the sensor you need, the obs speedometer has the "speed control unit" as part of it. You don't need anything besides just the speedometer from an obs cluster and the wiring plug.
Some trimming and test fitting a few times and you can make it work, also if you want the button holes...
The first one and middle one are both slip yoke output shaft seal and they both work on the 1356, just look different is all.
The last one is the output shaft seal for the front yoke and also used as the input shaft seal.
Make sure you look at your yoke when you remove it and make sure it's...
When the fuel guage pegs past full it means the wire from the gauge is open somewhere, it could be the fsv or the sending unit is wore out.
Here a pic of a good sending unit that's cleaned up
And a wore out one that would only work at almost empty and bounce a lot
Notice the bare...
A few weeks back oilburners wasn't even a site on my end, brought me to one of those generic pages that had the name and just a bunch of ads, couldn't get on all day but I was receiving emails from posts which said something was up. My guess is someone is trying to attack and knock obn off the...
Those bolts won't leak that much oil, good to check them but it's not your leak, my guess would be the lemon shaped plate below your oil fill neck, if that's not sealed right it will dump down the front of the engine and get blown everywhere.
I have a few ideas I want to try for my remotestart, one is temporarily pulse the cold idle solenoid with 24v and see if it has enough force to push the throttle then return it to 12v to not burn it out, this will all happen in a second or two so it won't burn out.
The other which is a bit...
Mite want to check the transmission range switch before hacking the harness, have you tried starting in neutral or pushing up/down on the gear shifter?
The start circuit is very basic on these trucks, it's a red with blue strip wire that comes out of the ignition switch, through the firewall...
I resealed my pump a few years back and it's still running strong and I didn't have any special tools, that seal can only go so far down before it bottoms out, easy to change just drive the old seal out and the new one in till it bottoms out.
The 4 pin plug is the high pressure cutout switch which is in line with the clutch, jumper the 4 pin and you'll get power at the 2 pin. I do recommend getting the high pressure cutout out switch if your going r134.
