Got my new Mahle pistons today!! .010 under. Also finally got my heads. The machine shop finally got my heads done. They installed all new exhaust guides, checked for cracks and ground valves and seats for $82. Good deal. The bad is when I got them home I noticed a groove in the combustion...- Torinojts

7.3 idi in a 1970's ford truck any one does this?
If I can figure out how to put picks on forum I will post my frame mods. Get a radiator out of a 70's big bock pickup. Front core support will bolt up. Need to fabricate mounts for frame. Also radiator is the same size as the idi radiator. Stretch or shorten frame as needed if you can weld. I...- Torinojts

I am in the middle of a project now. 75 F250 4 door on a 94 F250 chasis with a 7.3idit. Its not that bad.- Torinojts

Thanks for part number and parts book from Mahle. As for the heads I am going to have another guy I know check them over. I just received a factory ford service manual from eBay. I believe the spec were in there- Torinojts

I tried getting ahold of Mahle no luck. Called 2 different part stores for pistons .010 under and they acted like I was stupid. So if you can post part numbers for a factor turbo engine that would be great.- Torinojts

Thank you gays for all the responses. The machine shop will never see anything from me again for decking block with out permission and for the length of time they had it. I will try and get some picks up on build in the near future. Thanks.- Torinojts

I do have access to the gauge you slide across with a dial indicator on it. I measured with the rings on. I will remeasure with the rings off. Thanks for your offer thou.- Torinojts

I check with the parts store where I got the pistons. They said they would take back. But also said mahle doesn't make such a piston. I even Check there web site and none listed- Torinojts

Wall thickness was good and no cavitation. I know spec is .010-.031 stock. But I have seen where someone ran his at .050 and really no issue. Will this raise compression and with 10-15 lbs boost, heads studded, will I have head gasket issues with the raised compression?- Torinojts

Hello everyone. Great information. I am restoring a 75 f350 4 door. Installing it on a 94 f250 frame. It has a 7.3 idi factory turbo engine. I took block to have machined .020 over. 92 7.3 tps and muffler question (new owner)
New to forum and it is great. About the trans temp sender I have seen a T fitting installed on the transmission cooler lines right at the case. Install it on the output. It will read the temp before going to the cooler. I have ran mercron 5 syn in the e4od with no issues.- Torinojts
