I had a Precision converter. In less than a year it started to knock when it engaged.
I used the ASTG repair and update manuals and the Tugger manual. By-the-book, I spent three days on the trans and two days on the valve body. If I had immediately started a second, that one would have...
I installed a Tugger. Very happy.
And triple disk billet TC. I fried a single disc.
Metal drain back valve in pump. Plastic can melt.
LEDs from the solenoids to ground. When the solenoid is not energized the LED will be on, which both gives it's status and is a continuity check of the...
I got rid of the filter on the engine. The pic linked below shows;
Supply pump, vacuum switch from original fuel filter, "faucet", two micron Raycor fuel filter.
Huge improvement. The other filter is for the transmission.

I have a Tach-n-Time, and both mag pickup and a serious timing light. After I put in a fresh engine I had the timing all over the place. I finally settled on a spot that happens to be no rattle after warm up. I could have done that without all the gear.
I currently have six vehicles that run. My wife's 73 Mach 1/460 is the only one that still has a mechanical fuel pump. I built it almost two decades ago and all I have done to it since is repaint it.
The 01 PSD and 65 Mustang run 60# EFI fuel systems. That leaves two carbureted and the IDI...
I would like to get another pump. I don't find a WEB site for you. Must any commercial discussion take place off this list?
I have a 93 turbo engine, in a 9K# 84 E350, and a typical strong pull up a hill results in about 5# boost.
The current IP is a rebuilt sold as "turbo". I want to...
First, with the unit on a table, measure he resistance. Swing the float, slowly, thru it's range. You are looking for total resistance and dead spots. Sometimes just rolling a rheostat/potentiometer back and forth thru it's range can clean it.
If you find that it kinda works and you want to...
I have a 1984 E350. It came with a 460. I am in SoCal. In 2005 a shop had the van for three days, could not get it to pass smog check, and could not determine anything to fix. No charge.
I bought a 1989 for it's IDI. No more smog checks. In Cal smog checks for diesel start when there is...
Some are wire wound and some are deposited thin film carbon. An eraser will often work, if the element is still intact. I have had several that had worn open.
I have been using these pumps for decades. I have replaced only one in all that time. They are about $30.

Near the top of this album are more pumps I have used.

There are captions.
The rheostat is typically mounted on the outlet tube. I have taken a low cost unit, cut the tubes of both, and attached the new to the old with a compression union.
What is the resistance range of yours; full and empty?
My 84 was like that. But when I got the 89 for it's IDI it came with a two adjustment link. Look for a later link.
And no, you don't want to center the wheel by re-positioning it on the shaft. That type of steering box has a high center at mid range to provide less slack at straight ahead.
I have been running two micron Racor on my IDI and 2001 PSD for at least a decade. I got rid of the stock filters on both.
This is the supply pump on my IDI.

A couple times I have it turned off, and drove 50 MPH, and the engine didn't seem to...
That converter is OK if you guarantee you will lift your foot while it locks. I didn't, and we went home on a flat bed.
It had a deep pan and the snout on the filter melted off. The drain back valve melted. One converter to flex plate bolt welded the nut - I had to drill it off.
I had...
Regarding the Baumman controller. I have had the original in my 84/89/93 E350 for a couple decades. I have a Quick 4 running the AODE in my 65 Mustang.
When they did the original, memory was expensive so they could only do so much. But now memory is cheap and that loosened the strings on the...
I have loose E4OD gas and diesel and a 4R100. I will build an album. What should be shown and where should it be posted?
For now here are three pics. That is a gas 460 shim on a diesel E4OD. The two engines are just that much different.
I have running diesel E4OD and 4R100. Both use the...
I have six vehicles that run and run Masterpro in all of them; except the twelve foot serpentine in my 2001 PSD.
The real number for the 9580 is 17580 or 58017. It is 17/32 wide and 58.0 long. But I find the industry is getting a bit sloppy with the width dimensions.
17580
17-580
9580...
I agree, if you need to ask, you probably have not done much of that sort of thing.
First, if you will settle for just an additional gear, you can put an E4OD on the IDI. I did that in my 84 E350 with a Baumman controller. But normally you would not want the 0.7 overdrive on top of whatever...
I get mine here from the link below. I use them to replace the older style, or put them where there never were any.
The front doors of my 84/89/94 are OEM from about 90. The side and rear actuators are the linked universal. Mounting them means drilling a couple holes.
I have not had any...
It has a few hundred miles on it and seems dependable. I did not know it had a key-on voltage check until I installed it.
I have gauges from several vendors, all Chinese. So far one was erratic as a fuel gauge and one had a dead sensor. They are all low cost. I buy samples. If I install...
Cutaway vans used for ambulances and buses often had two alternators. Mine was a bus and also had two ACs.
As for what is normal. The factories deliberately don't give specific data in their instruments. The oil pressure gauge in my PSD has a needle that goes up when the engine starts, so it...
